I know this is a dumb question... but... are you running slow down?  I'd expect better numbers from a team even if they were running slow down... but I assume you're u/t like you should be.
5/14/2012 4:53 PM
uptempo - bu with 20 TOs a game why not? funny story though - I did run slow down/press for one game but my squad had 28PFs and would you believe it ? more TOs than my opponent who was running U/H

and while we're on the subject of turnovers Shaq and Drexler's TOV% are ridiculously low in real life (esp. Shaq)

Im seriously getting the irrational paranoiac feeling that seble is doing something to my teams - is that wierd?

another team getting the screw job

the first team is now on a 13 game losing streak, the second is on a 7 game losing streak

seriously, I think I should sue WiS and Scott Eble should probably be fired for tampering and sabotage because this is ridiculous and getting past even a little like something that could happen due to pure randomness
5/15/2012 4:32 PM
Wow on both accounts.  One thing I will say is that defense is still supremely f-ed up.  A 90 is really no better than a 60, maybe even a 50.  I honestly question whether there is any difference at all over 60.  Which means that you get outcomes like yours.

Under 60, and you are likely to get blown up, but I almost think of defense as a light switch rather than a dial.  Under 50=off, over = on.  the specific numbers don't matter at all.  With enough eFG, limited t/o's and boards, defense is not needed.

What's more, Ash's recent 71 win team is an eye opener.  Unconventional (in a way) and impressive.
5/15/2012 6:49 PM
That's my third installment of that team... I've tweaked the platoon position but the core (wilt+worm+MJ+kidd) has been the same throughout.
5/15/2012 6:54 PM
badja interesting point about defense but it just brings up another wonderful incongruity:  the first squad is near the bottom of the league in opp fg%

it's a complete breakdown in all facets - Im telling you that cheating bastard has scotched my teams somehow

and the second one with all those blocked shots and 80-90 d ratings at every position is dead average, middle of the pack
5/15/2012 7:16 PM (edited)
I wouldn't put it past him!  Those stats are terrible.

I pretty much quit when I felt I had no real control over the outcome anymore.  Looking at Ash's team though I realize that I was loading up on the wrong things.  eFG still reigns supreme, period.   Throw in some nice boards and 3's, too.  Also a real lesson in usage on that Ash team.  Something I always screwed up!
5/15/2012 10:24 PM
does it? because both of my teams are generating EFG at like 5 to 7 points below IRL so I guess I'll just have to take your word for it
5/15/2012 10:46 PM
over the three seasons, here's what Jordan & Wilt did:

Jordan: 34.8ppg 50% fg% 53.3% efg%
Jordan (2): 35.8ppg 47.6% fg% 50.8% efg%
Jordan (3): 33.7ppg 49.9% fg% 52.9% efg%

Wilt: 26.4ppg 72.2% fg%
Wilt (2): 25.8ppg 70.6% fg%
Wilt (3): 26.6ppg 74.1% fg%

Differences in squads: all were '10 Kidd - '97 Jordan - '93 Rodman - '67 Wilt + the following platoons at SF

1) '08 Vlad + '03 Rice
2) '10 Bonner + '09 Novak
3) '08 Vlad + '09 Novak

So you could definitely see a drop in production with the 2nd squad at just 0.5 less usage (bonner is tier 6, the rest are tier 5).  Was this related?  Or was it just not a big enough of a sample size? Your call.

Attempt 4 has just begun... I'm using 67-68 Wilt this time and dropped Kidd for a platoon at PG, then took the platoon at SF out and used '12 Ryan Anderson.  So I'm combining this concept with the Wilt TripDub concept.  Wilt won't get the trip dub, but I can always hope.

Attempt 5 will go back to the core but with 3300 minute Lebron instead of MJ.  But that's on down the road.

Attempts 1 & 3 each won 70+ games (73-9 first one, 71-11 third one).  Attempt 2 went 67-15.  All three attempts won the 'ship.

I think it's pretty much the pinnacle of OLs right now.  In attempt 3, I was also in the same division as another top-notch owner (nc7) who was running a tough platoon-squad and had the 3rd best record in the league.

those leagues youre in with those teams are pretty stacked with defense...id say that has more to do with it then anything

and badja...i think you are dead wrong about defense...big difference between a 60 and a 90

then why arent the other teams impacted by it? why arent the teams facing my stacked D suffering for it? - why my squad alone?

wormwood (the first squad) is now L14 and counting - I've been on the site for like 10 years and that's never happened to me

I'll assume the tampering/sabotage thing is an ongoing joke and not a serious concern.

I still don't get why people are so shocked when there's a difference (sometimes large) between actual and sim stats. There's always going to be a difference - you're giving the players different teammates and different opponents than in real life (so, things like your teammates' assist rates come into play, not only the defensive ratings of the other team, but also which positions are being defended well, etc). SOMEONE's team is going to have a big losing streak in any given league, why not yours (even if every team in the league was comprised of the same 12 players, you'd see a decent amount of randomness in records - not everyone would go 41-41).

It looks like you drafted a ton of turnovers and not a ton of assists, just to get you started on what may be wrong (for the "Wormwood" team).  Your drafted assist to turnover ratio is 1.47, which wouldn't even be league average in the NBA (and to have a good team, you should be aiming for better than NBA league average).
