made DII national championship game, can't move up Topic

Good luck, milk and coolman. Nice work at D2, and good luck in DI.

Just noticed the same thing -- I really didn't plan to move up, but after being eligible to be hired by all D+ and lower schools (and a small sample of C- positions) pre-change, my final 4 PIT appearance this past season at D2 has dropped me to "not qualified" for all D1 jobs.

I once won the D2 championship and couldn't move up to D1.  It had to do with my loyalty, which was "only" an A-.  What is your loyalty rating?
the loyalty penalty is (was? dont know if it changed with the update, or just that lateral moves wouldn't hit your loyalty as hard) absurd.  I can understand a loyalty of D keeping you from jobs...but in the real world the difference between an A+ and an A- is negligible at best and most if not all schools should be willing to consider pretty much anyone that would otherwise be qualified...especially when you've been at the same school for 4 seasons.

oh right... i didn't think of the change to make 10 seasons count. that is probably the issue. maybe seble made the requirements a little tighter, but when i said this was definitely wrong, i was thinking 4 seasons. seems much more reasonable given 10 seasons. i think if you pull off a couple solid seasons (like a couple post season appearances), you should be good. but still, not a bad example to show seble. it makes sense to use 10 seasons to compare coaches going for great coaches. but stopping a coach from moving up because he took some time to learn, i dont know if i agree with that. and what would happen if a coach didnt have 10 seasons yet?

I am having the same problem.....went to the final 4 and had three post season teams in D2 and I am not fit for a D1 job.  If my previous seasons are going to keep me from moving up I quit.  With this situation there won't be any D1 coaches.

I did.  Told them the critera is too hard to get back to D1 if you have to have 7 or 8 great seasons.  I have had 8 D1 NT appearances in th\is world. If it is because of the changes in the Sim you can be considered a "dead" coach if you ever get sent back to D2. Why continue......told them if it is so I am out of this sim.  Not realistic.

Not realistic.  You win a D2 National Title you should at least get a lower D1 job.  If an A- isn't good enough then this sim is not good enough and I am out of here.

My ticket from last night is now pending.  Hopefully this is resolved before the Naismith job postings are finished on Tuesday. This clearly just wasn't tested enough. I'm sure they'll fix it.

this is getting to be a complete joke.  I have issues with prestige also.  Have a team that has gone from D+ to C+ in four seasons with a team that has gone to 3 NT and 1 PST on the D1 level. Previous to that this D1 team hadn't make a NT or PS tourn in 20 seasons.  Four nice seasons and only one letter grade improvemnt.  A joke.  They tell me to look at the so called critera.  Hell, I can see it and it says to me that you cannot improve but one letter grade if you consistantly make the NT but don't win some games in the NT.  A a small D1 school where you dominate the conf and that's all you get?  Now added the fact they will look at your ten year coaching record.  I don't have a chance in hell to move up unless I want to put in 4 or 5 more NT seasons at my school.  I thinking about finding something else to do with my money.  And a have alot of teams  and it will be Whatifsports loss if I quit.

radar, I think there are a few things that you're not understanding here.

First, your ability to move up is not dependent on your prestige.
Second, although you've certainly done a very nice job at CConn State, you're basically squeaking into the NT and the best rpi you've had is 45. So while that's helped your prestige shoot up from low to respectable, I do think it makes sense that you'd need at least one really good season to break into the B-level prestige of BCS territory.
Third, I don't know if things have changed enough to impact this, but in the previous system, you certainly would have a strong enough resume to move up. If you don't, and that's your gripe, then I understand, and you should send a ticket. But if it's not having a higher prestige, well, to be perfectly honest, I think your prestige right now matches up pretty well with the resume. That's just my opinion and you and anyone else are free to disagree.

Look at baseline prestige radar. You'll never have a great prestige at that school. As far as moving up girt hit it on the head. You may already have enough success to do that although it may take another couple solid seasons to make a jump to a big 6 school.
12/12/2011 8:01 AM
It was my understanding that this update had nothing to do with the prestige formula, is that correct?
12/12/2011 10:27 AM
Correct.

Let us know what you hear.

The whole point of going to a 10 season window was supposed to make it EASIER to move up, not HARDER.
12/12/2011 11:20 AM
Anybody know if you can still move from D3 to D1?  Wouldn't think that would be impacted (and I wouldn't mind if it became impossible) but the 10 season window might be impacting that as well.
