Which is the better rebounder? Topic

Assume all other ratings are the same.

Player A: 75 ATH, 45 REB
Player B: 60 ATH, 70 REB
Player C: 40 ATH, 80 REB

I would say B and C are all but identical.  B might have a few games with more rebounds than C will ever see, but C should be more consistent.

C

wow I guess thats why I have 1/15 of the titles you do.  I like b by probally 10+%

titles are over rated. i was a better coach when i had 5 titles than i am now. and besides, rails has more, and he agrees with you. so who knows.

i would definitely take B overall but in rebounding, i don't feel ath is quite half as important as reb. it might vary by situation but in general i would put it more like .4.

we really don't know.  one thing billy and I agree on is most stuff can be put in some sort of cheat quick formula.  Most stuff is not 2 dimensional, but in this case the formula is

REAL REB = A x ath + B x REB

All that is left is to approximate A & B
I like having it so A + B = 1, that way REAL REB is a number like REB or ATHhen billy says less than half he means at half, A=.33, B=.66 (Billy I think at least that is what you mean), but he also said more like .4, which is probably more like A=.28 and B=.72.  To make the math easy, how about A=.25 and B=.75

that would leave
player A real reb = 52, player B = 68, player C = 70

Since we did so much roundinig, I'm going to say both billy and rails are right, B=C, but A is worse, how is that for a fun little math exercise that is politically correct.

Maybe if you guys are nice, sometime I will do my math for REALDEF - LOL

Oh, and the above applies only to motion, triangle and flex are quite different, OK just kidding.

I think HD is really all about the fuzzy math that OR went through above.

Whether it's figuring out what makes a good rebounder or scorer or defender, or getting a good estimation of what it will take to win a recruiting battle, or a host of other examples, I think the really successful coaches are the ones who are best at figuring out the fuzzy math.

(Or, perhaps more accurately, the ones who have been able to make it the least fuzzy.)

I would take player B.

Oh, I would definitely take player B if their other ratings are all the same.  B will be a better defender and scorer with the ATH advantage.  But I still think they're fairly equivalent rebounders.

With that math* its a 2% difference which Im not good at math if his team is 2% better then mine then he wins majority of the time.  That may explain alot as to why I have never beaten him.

In reality I think it also might depend on the defense and offense since ATH is valued slight more/less.  I think the main point is that it's definately not A.

I hope he knew that.

since we already had a little fun with this, if ACT REB (REB, ATH, ?,?. ...), and the formula looks something like:

ACT REB = A x REB + B x ATH + C x ? + D x ? where A + B + C + D = 1, does anyone think there is an atribute, like speed, or low post, or defense, or stamina, or work ethic, or IQ where C or D is greater than B? Or in english, if reb is most important to actual rebounding, is any attribute second most important over ATH???

I think it might be?
