Amateur Draft Settings - Signing Risk Levels Topic

Since we can only get Type D picks for unsigned draftees from rounds 1, 2 and 3, we should be able to separate our risk levels for the first three rounds as opposed to rounds 4 and 5.

Currently, we can set the risk levels separately for round 1, the supplemental round, and rounds 2-5.  That made perfect sense with the original implementation of the draft and Type D's.  But since we can now get type D's from rounds 2 and 3, I might want to be more aggressive in those rounds and more conservative in rounds 4 and 5, since an unsigned pick in those rounds is not compensated.

Interesting, and doesn't seem to be that difficult to change.  You would only be changing a threshold variable, rather than full mechanics.

I like it.  However, the cynic in me says, what about the tankers?  In Steinbrenner there are a lot of D picks, I think it is hard to imagine that some many teams, couldn't sign those picks.  It would be interesting to track D compensation with prior season performance.

Perhaps a penalty (loss of D picks), for teams that lose 15% more games than the previous season?

I agree, this is a good change

I also think that you should be able to set your default draft strat for each round, or every 2.  You could make it user defined, ie I choose rounds 1 and 2 to be very conservative, rounds 3 to 5 to be conservative and the rest to be agressive.  I want to be able to be sure to sign my picks for rounds 1 to 5 and take fliers I can look at individually each round after that.

I think there should be a setting for you to individually set your drafting aggressiveness for any Type D compensation picks, not just for the supplemental round.
i.e. If I have a true 1st round pick and a Type D 1st round pick, I am likely to want to at least be conservative (if not balanced or aggressive) for my true 1st round pick, but I certainly don't want anything but Very Conservative for that Type D pick.
I would also like to see the aggressiveness settings adjust based on what happened in an earlier round.  If I draft a questionable guy in round 1, I want a guy that will sign for slot money in round 2. But if I got a slot money guy in round 1, it doesn't bother me to have a questionable guy in the next round or two.
