CI: Recruiting Class Points Topic

Because it was asked for, here is the formula for those points you see besides the recruiting classes for rankings on Collegiate Insider and the recruiting emails.  Not sure where this formula came from or why it is what it is, but this is it:

Points = Average Recruit Value + (Total Recruit Values * 0.1) + Total Stars + (Number of Recruits * 7)

Recruit Value factors in all ratings plus some weighted values on certain ratings based on position.

The upcoming update will not focus on recruiting, so this will most likely not change until an update after this one.

Great info, always thought it was fluff. Thanks Norbert.

where have you been recently, norbert?

Been busy on another project that has some tight deadlines, but try to keep up here when I can.  Looks like the big update is going to start around May and last a few months, and it looks like there aren't going to be any surprise projects that pop up to mess with that, but then that's why they are called surprises.  I hope to start getting back to more regular activity on GD within the next month.

Update: Stars are not used in GD.  It looks like this was copied over from HD and never removed or turned on.  Stars are not shown for recruits because they are never set, and we double checked and there are no hidden Star values.  So you can ignore the Stars in this equation.

Thanks for the clarification Norbert

At this point, work will probably begin around March with a few months of development and I'm planning on having around a month of beta testing on the update.

From 1/25 post.

From 2/8 post.

I'm assuming this means that we are already 2 months behind schedule?

Suggestion: instead of total # of recruits, it should take the Best 12 recruits and drop the rest. FYI, rivals revealed their ranking formula a while ago.. below is a link to the google cached version because for some reason that actual page isn't loading.

Can't speak for anyone else but I can give 2 craps about CI Recruiting or the formula that goes with it. I know a fix is planned in a future update but lets target 2014 for it and between now & then focus solely on fixing the engine.  Guess > CI

Is LSU a liberal arts college?  That's a lot of Tiger fans that can't follow simple algebra.  LOL!

Rivgambino has it right.  Let's worry about everything else before we turn the screws to get this fixed.
