REDSHIRT - HELP! Topic

Just picked up a new team, and noticed that a true fresh PG did not play this season (rupp, hasn't rolled over yet), and still had the Redshirt option in play. Since he could be really good, I thought I would slap it on and see what happens (see if he will take - it is after the season after all). No idea if he will take it yet, but the option to take the redshirt off is gone (if his WE takes a huge dive). Whats up with that?

You don't get the option to take the redshirt off until u actually redshirt him.

patience grasshopper...after you get a response you'll have the option back

Go ahead and give him the red shirt. If he doesn't accept, you can take it back off and his WE will go back up.

OK, I'll bite ... anyone know what that previous coach could've done to not have that pg play in any games the entire season? Not mop-up, nothing?

It's not there still. Probably a moot point now, because he was excited to take it actually.

I still have a ticket it on this though, cuz I don't see anywhere in the FAQ or anywhere else that says you lose the option to take the R/S off after the season.

I wondered the same thing Dalter. I have tried to do that before, with absolutely no luck. This PG was 3rd on the Depth Chart, but it was a stacked team that avg'd an almost 20 pt margin of victory on the season as a whole. Certainly, he would have gotten something, even if off the depth chart. And the "play subs when losing or winning" boxes don't even work (per CS admission), so who knows.

You missed the point of the post. I already put it on him when I posted. That option to take the R/S off is not there (like it normally is). I am wondering if it is because it is after the season.

AFTER the season that option (take off RS) no longer exists..If he had been angry and his WE had dropped to 1, you would have had problems...
(speaking from experience)

I would guess that once the season starts he'll be a RS'd freshmen. Rs'ing him at the end of the year was no different than RS'ing at any other time during the season. (you won't have him as a RS in the upcoming season)

I would guess he was set to rest to be able to keep him out of games.

you picked a nice team. ..good luck with them

can only set to rest if indeed he is injured, but my guess is the coach redshirted him for the season, then took it off when he applied at the next job because he did not want to help the next coach?

Wow, that would be an awfully petty way to go out!

Well, their staminas were quite high so I'm guessing the settings were maybe to keep key players in unless very tired or something. Still I've never had much luck holding kids out, so seems incredible that this chance was even there.

what if he took it off so the option to RS was still there next season?should've waited

pretty bad screwing your old team when simmy does it much better

Even if he took it off on the last day possible then the player was not officially redshirted and could be redshirted the following year.
