Easier to move up to D2 Topic

Made a tweak to reduce the requirements for experience for coaches in DIII. This will make it a little easier to move up to DII. Will not affect current DII and DI coaches.

Because just going .500 1 season wasn't easy enough?

guys in Rupp were unable to move with PIT bids, sent in tickets, i think.
10/14/2009 11:46 AM
That's not why they weren't able to move though. They just got beat out by coaches with better resumes. If they wanted a D prestige school they could have moved up no problem.

CBurton you're right on. At the beginning of Rupp jobs there were zero A prestige jobs and only a handful of B jobs available. These guys wasted all their applications on good schools, then had to complain when they couldn't get what they wanted.

I'm all for the "megabowl" but if you want a spot earn it, or pick a D school and build it up.

sorry guys, wrong. there were coaches that put in apps at average DII schools that they were "qualified" for, yet they got instant rejections.
10/14/2009 12:28 PM
exactly. jobs that remained unfilled.

Then they should have lowered their sights more. Maybe they couldn't get the average job, but they could have got a D+ job.

if it says you are qualified, you shouldn't get an instant rejection.

But that doesn't mean they should make it easier to get jobs, that means they need to adjust what it says under job status

no they couldn't. they were getting instant rejections. This wasnt an issue of the applicant getting beat out by other coaches. They never even got the that point. they were being rejected before that. That is why the fix was made.

what exactly does it matter if a coach spends 1 season or 2 at DIII?

Again, that doesn't mean that it should be easier to move up, but that the logic for what your status with that school is needs to be adjusted.
