Developing players Topic

What is most important in developing players so reach their potential? Is it mor eimportant for coaches to have high pitch/hit ratings or patience? Is it important to promote the players one year at a time? Does following you coacher reccomendations about promoting players have any affect?

Thanks

Playing time, timely promotions and coaching are key in development. If 10 people respond, you'll likely get 10 answers on how to develop players.

I want good coaches in the "main" category. Patience is a plus but it's all secondary to me. I plan for players to be in AAA when they're added to the 40. RL/LoA/HiA for the first two seasons, AA in the third and AAA in season 4. Sometimes, if a player is developing faster(or I need him), he may be in the bigs in S4. So he may skip a level. I pay no mind to coach recommendations on promotions.

I completely agree with this. That's 2 similar opinions believe it or not...

My approach is not exactly like Mike's, but close enough to not nit-pick over details.

So make that three similar opinions.

Playing time (IP/AB) has the strongest correlation to player development, in my experience. However, I also never had "bad" coaches at any level.

I tend to try to have my best prospects paired with the best coaches for their development level (example: if my LoA HC or PC is "meh", I'll skip last year's #1 pick to HiA), and be in AAA when I'll have to add them to my 40-man roster.

For me, those ridiculous emails from your minor league coaches are really just a reminder to check prospect development.

You know you want to nitpick. Go ahead. I can hear you fidgeting thru the monitor.
