Super Discussion Ended - SEE RE-BOOT Topic

Let's move the discussion over here regarding the future of the Super Progressive league.

I'll be starting a new draft thread for us to pick up in on Friday if all goes well so I can edit the draft board and the player list. Let's keep the discussion here so we can save that one for posting picks.

Sitemail sent out to Super Progressive owners tonight:

Hello Super Progressive League owners,

Most of you have been to the draft thread tonight and know that dureseam has stepped down as the commissioner of our league.

I am going to try and save what is a great idea and pick up for him, but we're going to suspend the draft for Thursday so we can figure out how to proceed from here.

First order of business is to make sure we'd still have all 24 owners on board. I'd like to hear from every owner to confirm if they are in or not. If too many people are inclined to drop out, we might not be able to do it.

Second order of business is to nail down the rules and figure out what to do about questionable players who have been draft or may be on the available player list.

We will be talking it over in the draft thread, so please come by and chip in your two cents. Let's get this back on track for Friday everyone!

Regarding the player list and eligibility, part of me wants to review the whole player list and make sure that it meets some consistent standards. That however would be an extremely time consuming endeavor and might only take even more momentum out of this draft.

What I am leaning towards is leaving the available player list as it is. If someone's on the list, they're in the draft. If they're off the list, they're not in. Period. Sure there could be some more mistakes in there like Ortiz and Cepeda, but hopefully nothing everyone can't live with.

That aside, I would like to establish that the rules of eligibility from here on out (meaning from our next draft on) is that it would strictly be based on primary position only. It's the simplest way to do it, and it's the way every other progressive I've looked at does it.

Regarding the Ortiz and Cepeda picks specifically, I think we should let them stand since both owners took them in good faith based on the available player lists and the negative impact to taking them away from those two owners is in my estimation worse than any negative impact to the league by letting those two players stay.

I'm in.

I have no problems with letting Ortiz and Cepeda stay in the league.

I think we should redial up the entire thing...it was a clusterfook from the start with the whole delahney/collins fiasco. Keep the same draft order and just have back at it from the start. Just my two cents.

Tainter, you're one of my favorite people on here, bro, but I don't want to start over...have already deleted picked guys out of word files I spent hours putting together & kind of have a game plan already in the works... but whatever you all decide...

Whoever was allowed Rounds 1-3- let 'em be grandfathered in & stay.
Otherwise, going forward, if the players don't pull up in a Primary position search, then they are NOT AVAILABLE. Delahanty would have been up as an OF'er in the 1891 draft... But for now I say grandfather the ones already picked and let's move on to Round 4...

I understand the feeling taint. But I think it is very do-able to go on. I've got a new draft thread set up, have updated the available player list. We should get the missed picks caught up, let people pick on Thursday off the clock, and then continue on with time slots on Friday.

The Delahanty/Collins issue got fixed between the two owners.

From here on in, we just need to go by the AP lists as they stand.

Oh, and Taint, I sent you a sitemail - yours is one of the missed picks, unless I missed your Round three amongst the pages of discord we had tonight.

A couple of rules items to nail down if there aren't any objections.

DL - unlimited DL, you can have as many DL players as you need, and they can be held for multiple seasons. However, they are ONLY eligible for the DL if they do not appear in the sim that season.

Wild Card Players - In future drafts, we'll continue to have wild card picks. In the second season draft you can select any 1911 or 1951 player not already in the league, and may select up to two players - one hitter, one pitcher. There will be no rules about how many WC players any team can have on it's roster at any time.

Another item - AAA.

In dureseam's original rules, he said no AAA, but if we have enough over players after Round 25, why not allow for a few extra real AAA players? It would give greater roster flexibility for trades IMO.

I'm still in, as I've mentioned in a couple of other places (because I just got home from a double shift to find this had happened).

I was originally with Taint--let's start over. But if everyone else is still in, and in order to cause the least disruption, I'd agree with continuing.

As for the rules, we should fully spell them out to avoid confusion.

As to the rules changes:

1.) DL- I can get behind unlimited DL for players with missing WIS seasons, which will be especially important with the 1940 OFs.

2.) WILD CARD- Yes, I believe it had been discussed that in subsequent drafts, you could pick only one new WC player from either 1911 or 1951. I am behind this rule.

3.) AAA- I'm not comitted either way, and would abide by the majority rule.

Now, I think I need to get some sleep!

That's fine. Didn't know if it had ever been formalized, but one WC in subsequent drafts is good if that's already in the rules.

We better get this completely straight. Some people have said they will only stay if we start over. You're going to have to see where we stand with all the owners before we just start drafting again.

Personally, I'd rather keep going. We started the draft, things aren't off enough to warrant a reboot, let's keep going.

If enough people want to start over, I'll go with that too, but only if we completely reboot. By that I mean reassigning years to positions so that we have a new player pool. Redoing the current draft seems like a complete waste of time and I'm not real interested in that.

Keep going, I am in.
