I know this might seem crazy or make some people angry, but there's much smarter people than me out there and I can't decide what to do with my guards for this season. If you'd like to help please do. If you want to slap me, well I'm not into making slap bets.

(Note: I'm redshirting my mediocore PG recruit, hopefully his potential pans out)

Davis is your best SG by far and Schindler should be starting at SF. My backups would be Tucker at sg and I would put Escamilla at backup 3, I always try to get my young guys enough pt so they develop properly. If you are looking at who should be starting at pg I'd say Tucker, although he is a little slow for my liking in a pg.

I disagree - I would go Davis as PG. I think that you really need that speed at PG, and I prefer to have a bigger ath number at SG, while you only lose a few points at PE by playing Tessier. I think Peterson would get some playing time as your #3 PG because of the low ST of Davis, and his lower BH and Pass get a boost because of the A IQ.

PG - Davis, Tucker, Peterson
SG - Tessier, Stacy, Peterson
SF - Schindler, Esamilla

Davis is your sg, I wouldn't move him anywhere else. You could use him as the starting sg and backup pg. I have done that with good success in the past.

calvin - it is a little known secret (which I will gladly share with you) that playing PF / C's, especially frosh big men, at starting PG / sg with max distro 50% each, causes the engine to flip over, and all your guys shoot near 100%,

this glitch occurs only when you are behind - so that not too many can figure it out. so start your young big men at guard, back them both up with benny escamilla, and you should be in great shape.

OK, I will give you a straight up answer, sort of - you really can't go too wrong with your guys, I have already played with different lineups early in the year to see what works best, the only thing that you might have to do is not play escamilla, or one of the other guys will quit for lack of playing time.

Yeah berm. I can see that too. I just hate moving elite sgs from the 2 spot. Seems they don't perform as well from the pg spot. I don't really have any stats to back that up just how I have always felt.

here's what I would try, especially to start off and with exhibition games to show results.

Foster at Ctr, Schindler PF, Tucker Sf, Davis Pg, Tessier Sg.

I know Tessier is young but his back-up will play more with the low stam of Tessier and with high D backing up the sg it will counter some of the distro teams might try going against him.

that's what I would try.

I might swap Tessier and Davis from your thoughts berm. And maybe put Davis as backup 2. You have plenty of depth if you play most of your guys on FF all of them should get plenty of pt, I might put davis on GT.

Ripple is a little tall for AI isn't he?
11/10/2009 10:15 AM
Berm, you are kind of forced to play Ripple there tho, whereas if you had another good pg I think Ripple would play better at the 2. Again no proof just what i have noticed. When I get home I think I still have some stats from my Illini a few years back when we won 28, I started a stud sg at pg.

I think that either Tessier or Davis would be fine at SG/PG. I have no hard evidence, I always prefer more speed from my PG and more Ath at SG. I feel like you need the Spd from a PG, and the Ath at SG gets him more open looks.

I agree with you on the more speed from a pg. I would try each of them in your exhi games and maybe decide which one you like more. Truthfully you really can't go too wrong. You could swap them based on matchup too I guess.

I'd keep escamillia under wraps and play peterson as the backup SG, might not be real life, but senior near 800 level guards tend to contribute far more than 600 something frosh SF's,

after that, it is worth experimenting, since if you get it right, you have a shot at winning it all

near impossible for anyone to tell you how to play them, so much depends on shot selection, distro, pace, etc, there are schemes I use where davis for sure would be my PG, others where I would not hesitate to play him at SG, just depends on how you want to approach things -
