HBD ratings for real life players! Topic

I just realized that thebaseballcube.com rates all players from 1-100 on contact, power, batting, patience, and speed.

they don't break it down into L/R splits, but for kicks here are some sample ratings:

pujols 90/92/97/82 w/ 32 speed
jeter 61/40/88/57 w/ 72 speed
pedroia 99/43/86/67 w/ 49 speed
howard 7/98/73/80 w/ 24 speed

naturally, these ratings don't align perfectly with HBD and it shows when you reach middle of the road players, but i had fun with them for like 5 minutes.

Jeter's range/glove/arm strength/arm accuracy is 10/72/10/96

If his arm strength was 10, wouldn't it take like 6 bounces for his throws to get to first?

Fine, give him a 20 then. He can usually get it there within three bounces.

Funny how you guys come after me for cracking on Jeter's lack of arm strength (I notice that you don't argue about his range), but you ignore the fact that Deano gave Pedroia a 99 contact rating.

We all know he can't hit the high-inside fastball.

*shines pedroia's mvp trophy*

I didn't realize you were talking about Jeter. I was simply pointing out your baseball IQ.

You know what Jeter has that you don't?
A bunch of gold gloves, a harem of hot chicks and a big ol' pile of money.

Really? You didn't realize he was talking about Jeter?

Even though he started his comment with "Jeter's"?

You seem to have this misconception that I read posts. We've been over this before.

Right. That explains a lot.

I think Howard is more than 7 contact...... maybe 25 or so......though Philly would really do great with a Todd Helton type player....in his prime.....homers are great......but that extra base hit could really do more damage sometimes....

You can't explain anything baseball-related to him. His baseball IQ is 10. But ask that dumb bastard a question about sushi and he's all over it.
