Pulling Down Recruit....Question Topic

Okay, so I have been sending scouting trips, and on the one that I sent last cycle, multiple ones gave me this message:

Overall, I think a DII school would be lucky to get him, otherwise he'll probably thrive in a low Division I program.

I've been doing this a long time, based on the other coaches in attendance and what I was hearing in the gym, we really don't have a shot unless he gets passed over by the 'big boys'.

But then on the last one, I got this...
Overall, I think a DII school would be lucky to get him, otherwise he'll probably thrive in a low Division I program.

No second part, does that mean I pulled him down? Thanks.

If you pulled him down he would be considering you.

You can disregard what most of that info at the end of the Eval says, the most important thing is that if the player is accepting your phone calls and saying you are a backup, then you would be able to pull him down.

okay, so he isn't "open" to my recruitment then?

If he isn't considering you then no, he has not been pulled down and would not be. I

f he dropped down, in which case he will be listed on your d2 recruit search, then he would be.

What do you mean he would not be?

From what you've posted so far, he is open to being pulled down, but you haven't spent enough to accomplish it. How many scouting trips have you sent his way?

Would not be - "open" to his recruitment.

How was I wrong? I told him he wouldn't be open to normal recruiting efforts if he was not considering him, since he would not have been pulled down yet. How is that wrong?

The only relevant info from an Eval is when it says something like "from the other coaches in attendance it seems like he's in our league" or "from talking to his uncle it seems we have a great shot at landing this kid, in fact he said you have a great shot at landing this kid." Until you see those comments you probably won't have a chance. But as others have said you should send phone calls before you do evals, if you get the backup response than do some scouting trips.

If he says you were a backup then you need a minimum of 10 evals to pull him down. It may take more but that is that starting amount needed

I have sent 9 evals so far, and I got the back up message before starting to send these, I am going to stick with and and keep going until I pull him down. Thanks

As the player gets closer to being available to you, you'll likely see the eval message change. Instead it will be something like "I can't see many of the big boys in D1 going after him" or something lesser than what is shows now. This is particularly true at D-3.

i have pulled down with 8.
a+ prestige may have helped?

i dunno. i am no expert at this as i usually have just waited for them to drop down. but i guess im getting impatient in my old age. i had heard that bunch of evals would do the trick. so i think i sent 6 to one kid, and 8 to another. the one i sent 6 to didnt bite. the kid i sent 8 to was considering me. so i sent two more to the other kid and he is considering now as well.

maybe it is somehting new?

I am wondering when everyone is talking about pulling down recruits are you talking about overall ranking or position specific ranking when people talk about at D2 getting a SG at like 180?
