Has anyone had success at the Div III level using 3 point guards?

1. Very good BH/Pas

2. Very good SP/PE

3. Very good ATH/REB

All three good BH/PAS

Just wondering if this would throw the HD engine off or there would be no problems.

I have used pg's at the 3 before. I guess I don't know what you are asking here. Are you looking to start 3 pgs? Or what?

Yes........Could you have success Starting three Point Guards?

Sure.

I've been a lot more successful lately with a 3 guard offense. Strangely, when I first starting playing this game back in 2004, that strategy failed miserably.

As long as they are good enough.

Caution: When you start moving players out of position by 3 though the ratings do take a pretty big hit although CS never has said how much to my knowledge.

PG -- SG -- SF that would be three away -- PF that would be four away

If they are good enough at the cores though I wouldn't worry at all. A SG or SF with the same #s is better in the long run but if they are not up for being recruited that I wouldn't worry about the hit your going to take in the ratings.

THIS IS INCORRECT!!!!

PG - SF is 2 spots away.

The out-of-position penalty (which starts at 2 spots away, if there even is one at all) is not a pretty big hit. It is minor at best.

I run a 3 guard system for the first time this season and my rebounding has been awful.

if you are going to run a three guard system, you need to get some REB numbers from those guards

the best bet in my experience is to find a SG who can play the SF slot and who has skills that fit there - like a nice REB rating for your division level and maybe even some LP skills

if you are going three guards, then try to add some REB from the two guys playing guard and look for two bigs with nice rebounding

By the way, that SG who plays SF can have somewhat weaker BH and PASS and perhaps SPD than would be optimal in a true SG - he will still be very nice compared to SFs - and a good profile to look for can be a SG with high REB but with flaws that make him less useful to others - but fine for you at the 3 spot

a bit more - I think a SG at the SF is very good idea at DIII where finding SFs is hard (although someone currently at DIII should chime in if I am no longer right)

at the DI level, here is a guy who is a good example of a SG that has done well at the SF slot

NameYr.Pos.ASPDREBDEBLKLPPEBHPWESTDUFTTOT
Chad HiebertSr.SG548156992012977082699769B806

His speed, passing and ballhandling would not be upper echolon for a SG - but as a SF they are fine. His 56 REB is okay and that lets me get his DEF and PERI into the game.

Adjust accordingly for DIII rankings - but a SG who can hit the boards but doesnt have great PASS and BH can contribute at the 3, especially if he can shoot

he has done well at the small forward position because REB is 56
