BYU Hawaii D2 recruiting class? Topic

In my first year in D2 @ BYU Hawaii, I have what I beleive is a solid team heading into the season. I needed to fill 4 spots in recruiting and this is what I was able to come away with.

Just wondering if there are any opinion on my class out there. I'm new to D2 and I learn from every opinion I hear. So what do you think.

Unfortunately recruit links don't work, so either we'll have to wait until after they report to view them and give you feed back or those in your world can take a look at them and give feedback or you could post the players ratings.

Salzman and Tejada are really nice. Charbonaue is a little slow for my liking but he is a solid defender.

That is kinda what I thought aswell. But Charbonaue was a local and I got his interest early. I had a roster spot to play with so I figured I would try to develope a decent reserve. I was shocked to get Tejada, that guy has huge upside.

I would've avoided Charbonaue and Flanders, I don't even see them as standout D3 players. But as Zhawks said the other two are good, I'ld more speed for Salzman and wish his BH and Pa were reversed but his athleticism is going to be a big advantage at D2. He can even be an affective SG despite his low per because of his high ath and very high BH he'll be able to get to the basket.

I was not a huge fan of either charb or flanders, But they where both local and I am in my first year at the school. I didn't have a weath of recruiting cash at my disposal and I didn't want to get in a position where I ways taking walk ons. I didn't think I would get the pull downs. And just a side note recruiting from the islands is a little tricky.....cost a fortune and not a place where there is a ton of talent.

Walk ons aren't all that bad. It's pretty much always better to take walkons rather than take players that you don't really want. Having 2 walkons isn't going to hurt you, having 2 guys on your roster you don't like most likely will. Also if you take walkons instead you will have 2 additional scholarships next season and thus more money. Since you have 3 seniors if you took on 2 walkons you would have gotten money for 5 scholarships and with that kind of money you can aim really high and even afford to get in a battle. With cash just for 3 guys it's not advantageous to get into any battles.

When you recruit from Hawaii you almost have to take anyone that is usable that is local.

As a fellow Hawaii d2 guy, I love the class.

You have to take some average/role players just because of the distance disadvantage. I obviously like the main two recruits. They remind me of my two most promising players, Arzola and Sargent.

I'm impressed that you were able to get Salzman from the states, I guess there aren't any high prestige schools in Oregon? He is an expensive pull down. Also impressed at the school's prestige.

I just looked at the recruits for D2 Phelan and they are terrible too. So the good news is even though the Hawaii guys may seem mediocre, there's a lot of trash everywhere else too.
