if you are talking about division III, possibly the easiest defense to recruit for is zone. you do not have to worry too much about DE rating, or SPD in the zone

easiest defense might be zone, but it seems like the press is the most effective.

Motion/press

press.

i think you can be very successful with any offense. i think the best team of all time would run motion, but plenty of great teams i feel would do better running triangle or flex instead of motion. all in all i don't think you can say there is a best offense, you can be incredibly successful with any of them.

I like Press for DIII. Just get lots of Athl and Speed. I set the filter for 20 on Defense but I will take 17-18-19 if the guy is really good. Zone is similar but you have to be careful not to get too many guys with low Defensive skills.

In the Zone, the skills are averaged so if you have a PG with a 10 Def then you need your SG to be a 50 just to bring the average to 30 ((10 + 50)/2). Same for the SF/PF/C - total them and divide by 3.

For DIII Offense, I like Motion or Triangle. Just be sure to get good passing and BH. I have never had much success with Flex or FB so I can't recommend them.

good advice from weena, as always. only comment i would make is that in d3 press, you can get away with really bad defense (even 5 or less) if the guy is good enough. i have had some really low defense guys even in d2, and it hasn't held us back at all.

fb a taboo for you G

run the press. you wont even have to gameplan or check your team all season, just come back at the end and see how far you went in the NT

Don't ignore stamina for the Press, especially if you go with FB or like to go uptempo a lot.

Press is beatable, its just not easily beatable by teams with lesser ath/spd.

I've been running press for a while, and I keep getting my *** kicked in the first round...you need players with really good speed and ath I guess, or something...if I figure it out ever, I'll let you know...

If the press results in a lot of turnovers, should I counter that with a fastbreak offense for easy baskets off the turnovers?

Altho one can win with it, I think fastbreak is the least favored offense among folks who appear to know what they are talking about

conventional wisdom is that press has an edge as the game is currently configured

then again, you have to pay attention to the skills of your inherited players - both ratings and the scheme they know

I generally stay with what I inherit, especially if I plan to move on soon as I can get a better job. Changing schemes is a big slowdown on progress. Amd, the differences between schemes are meaningful but not huge

It's much easier to gameplan against the press than any other defense, IMO, since you can't really adjust what players to cover their stars or double them should you want to.
