Is the Top 25 a Joke? Topic

I sincerely hope they fix the Top 25 in the new roll-out. Am I just biased or is this absurd?

In Knight, my B+ Prestige Florida State team is not in the Top 25.

We are #10 in the RPI with the 5th best SOS. We are 7-3 vs. the Top 25 and and 17-6 overall right now in the highest prestige conference (the dominant ACC).

How is this team not Top 25?

Better question: how am I ranked 21st, yet I wasn't good enough for the National Tournament? So I'm the 21st best team in the country, just not one of the top 64? Right.

One of the things we have been doing is working on the ranking system.

Seble claims that wins v the Top 25 shouldn't be included in the rankings. Basically his new fresh idea is RPI with the difference being teams start out being ranked based on talent, but as a whole the new idea is basically a 2nd rpi as it follows it pretty close and that is the last thing we need, another number that directly correlates to seeding that can be easily manipulated.

That seems silly. In real life, going 7-3 vs. the Top 25 would absolutely be something the AP poll and Coaches poll voters would notice and reward. No doubt.

Oh and ellison i completely agree with you , The T25 should have a credit for Top 25 wins or something, heck idk but it needs to have something different then Sos and wins, it doesn't matter how perfect it is, hell the T25 isn't ever intended to be something perfect, it is a compilation of peoples opinions, there is always x should be over y guys c'mon and so and so should be ahead of so and so.

seemed to miss what i was saying, imo. Its just something to help differentiate it from the pack, not "#25 is so much better then #26".

I had a similar situation last season in Knight D3 and CS actually admitted my team should've been ranked. They are aware the ranking system is very flawed now. But IMO it's nearly irrelevant since it means nothing for seeding, and has little to no impact on prestige.

Not untrue, actual rankings mean nothing for seeding. The reason it looks like that is because some of what goes into the rankings is taking into account for seeding. So even if rankings did not exist that same info that is taking account for seeding that rankings uses would still be used.

Seble has said himself they are not just window dressing, just ask dalt he is very sure that they need to mean something in seeding, dalt ik, has tried to convince him that they should be nothing but window dressing, but they aren't. Actually last time we had this debate seble came into the thread and stated that you were wrong (if i remember right).
