If you haven't yet looked at the thread 'Guide for New Coaches', that's an excellent place to start.

Keep in mind that the admonition of LP not mattering in guards is no longer true!

Yeah basically:

PG = spd, bh, pass

SG = ath, spd, per, bh

SF = everything is useful

PF = ath, spd, reb, lp

C = ath, reb, lp, shot blocking

Def is important for man to man and press to some extent. FT% helps some, really you have a lot of flexibility into what works, but its hard to go wrong with speed on the perimeter and athleticism inside.

Thanks. Just what I was looking for.
Any input on the best type of offense and defense to play?
I know in GD there is the NDBox and WB that 99% of the coaches run to be successful.

I wouldn't change from the one you have high IQ's in. Which looks like a fast break/Man - which means go for speed, ATH, def and REB(At least to me) first and then get as much of everything else as you can get your hands on.

The Press is probably the HD version of Notre Dame Box. Also, alblack56 is another one of snake's IDs

LOL!! Not another snake sighting

Yeah I don't think the press is all that dominating. I have seen plenty of teams do well with a man to man defense, and zone can work as well, with the right combo of rebounding and shot blocking.

The new engine is going to change the way the press works too, so I wouldn't be too secure in that logic either.

I agree, anything can work, just like in GD. Press is the one that some people argue is too powerful, at least in the old engine.

So does practicing the press make my players IQ better in that formation? Right now the best is man to man but it is an all sim team so I will have to do rebuilding so it doesn't matterwhat I use right now. I would like to use man to man press so should I change my practice time to press and their IQ will become better in that formation?

If you want to use man press, you should practice both.

I have the cores for GD if you need them too :)

IQ's will improve as they practice and play the defense. They also won't decrease if you set them to '0' (unlike the skill categories which require a '3' in PER and LP and a '7' everywhere else to maintain the rating)
