I like the game so far but.... Topic

I am in my second season and first in a long time and one thing i have already seen during recruiting i dont like. I had a guy green after a campus visit and then he was turned yellow then red by another school, the same school, that school then signed all their spots but didnt sign him and instead the players turning back green to me, like they do in GD, he went undecided and just signed with a different school after i had already had him green before. I dont like this, i think if the guys was green he should have signed with me after the other team didnt offer a scholly and he went undecided. That could be a part of collusion if a team with more prestige jumps a recruit and then doesnt sign him and "another less prestigious school" comes in and signs him then next cycle after he goes back undecided instead of signing with the school he was green to before. I also had a scholly offered to him.

Are you talking about your priority list? Green means hes high on your list, yellow means medium and red means not interested in him anymore. Before you could remove recruits from your list red had purpose so you didn't waste any more money on said recruit. Usually yellows are back ups for me, and green are my main options. They mean nothing in terms of value, so I'm not sure what you are talking about to be honest. It is there for eye candy to sort through recruits you added to your list, or contacted - nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry he was considering only me then was considering me and another school and then considering another school. He then went undecided after that other school signed their players and signed with another school the cycle or 2 later. In GD when they are considering only us they are green, thats where i said that from. Sorry!!

Did you do anything stupid, like inform of redshirt on accadent? Are you sure you had a scholarship offered to him? If you don't offer one within a few days they go undecided.

Yes i had a campus visit and when he turned green for a few cycles i had offered a scholly, no RS inform or anything. I kept the scholly on him because i noticed the other team had signed 2 players at that position.

Well, they don't just stop considering you for no reason. Will you copy/paste the recruiting effort? If you had a ship offered and he was considering you, the only other thing that could have happened was a coach slammed him with a few visits - enough to boot you off the list. Because they can't sign instantly, it took 1-2 cycles afterwards for him to sign. You probably just didn't notice.

Yeah, some coach just jumped on him and took him from you without you noticing. I think we've all experienced it some time. Some of the users considering it poaching, stealing etc.

The first team booted me from the recruit but since he didnt sign i figured he would turn back green. when he went back undecided he sent me a letter saying he loves my school and if noone else goes after him he will sign with me but the next cycle he signed with another team that he wasnt considering before.

Yeah i understand the poaching part but i just hate that he went undecided instead of signing with me which allowed another team to take him.

Yeah you gotta spend more money on him for him to get back on your list. A phone call would have/should have likely got him to re-consider you.

OK thanks. Live and learn.

I have found when battling that you need to spend more money than you did. To sign him with 1148 is very reasonable when there is no competition... bad luck and slick move on the other coach to jump in when they did. Did you have future stars scouting? sometimes they say which way a player is leaning which may have helped too (although is seems several cycles behind sometimes).

It is also (obviously) possible to sign someone when they never even consider you - so just because you are the only one he was considering at various points doesn't mean there weren't significant efforts by other coaches going on. After awhile most coaches figure out about how much it takes to get on the considered list so they could recruit just below that and then the next cycle go for it.

Well, what furry said, and the fact that he had no oustanding ACCEPTED scholarship offer. Had that been there, you MIGHT have gotten some sort of notice, or a flat out signing.

I understand that there is "considering credit", but I remember somewhere seeing that as we get closer to and then past signing day, older recruiting efforts start meaning less than newer efforts.

Does this happen in HD?

If so, does someone have a reference concerning this? I have looked but can not find one.
