Settling a score... Topic

As we all know due to the issues with the engine the Smith and Allen season were reset.

Last week, Ashland (DII) played Arkansas (DI). in an exhibition tilt. As I know the Arkansas coach personally, we placed a small wager on the game based on a spread. The final score was 126-77 and I did not cover.

I am arguing the game never happened and no payout should occur, he argues the other side.

Thoughts?

I say pay up, and it was dumb to bet on a 1st game of a new engine, but I am assuming it wasn't much money.

Its a push, ask Vegas...you don't owe him a dime.

My answer, still to be determined. Push the game to next season when the new SIM engine is working better and go double or nothing.

I say if you can't pay don't play.

I agree it was a dumb move on the first game of the new engine but you made that choice.

Pay up!!

It's a no pay in my book. There was expectations on both sides of a fair encounter, and it's obvious with the reboot of the season that that was not the case.

My question is, what was the score of the "pre-fix" game 1 and did you cover...that arguably should be the official result...since they re-ran it, I would agree to void the bet.

What was the spread?
5/24/2010 3:53 PM
Spread was set at +41, final score was 126-77.

It's not about the cash, its about the principal.

The game didnt happen; thats why it was reset...sorta like a baseball game where the score is 20-0 but gets rained out after 3 innings. Everything from that game is whiped out including records and statistics.

We bet on the 5/18 Arkansas vs. Ashland game. The game happened. It's not like a rained out baseball game because the game was finished. We bet on that game; not a replay of that game. Arkansas doesn't win very much. Throw me a frickin' bone.

Since I know that mottnj was involved, and he beat my team twice last season.....

I vote for stipanovi. He obviously has the clearer grasp of the concept of wagering

a bet is a bet... you gota pay... then look for more points on the next one. The bet was for the game on the 18th... it played... there was no pre-game criteria... just a wager on THAT game.... again. Look to use that loss for a bigger edge in the future.

And colonels, your wrong... as soon as Vegas has it posted as a final... they cash tickets... they don't wait 2 days to be sure everything was ok... they pay then. No money in Veags was ever given back on a team forced onto probation and had to forfeit games due to recruiting vilations... when it's a final... it's a final. They pay
