That's what these forums have become.  If you have criticism or concern, send it in via ticket.  If you're not sure it's getting to seble, and you feel entitled to having him hear you, send it to him in a sitemail.

I scan through here trying to pick up bits of information to help enjoy this game and maybe even do a little better at it, and I hafta scan through pages and pages of whining to do so.  Unfortunately, it's making my interest in the game wane altogether.

In this very fluid state of HD, I feel I must keep up on the forums, so that I'm fully aware of what's going on and the changes taking place.  But I don't enjoy watching personal attacks and rhetoric fly around in the interim.

I'm not a seble apologist, nor do I have any agenda.  I want this game to grow and continue to be enjoyable.  Because that's why I'm here in the first place.

Anyhow, my 2 cents.  Not that it'll buy you anything

Multiple things here.

You can't sitemail admins.

HD just had a rather recent release, thus you're bound to see "criticism" and "concern" on these boards. I think you suggesting that everyone should just keep these problems to themselves/between you and WIS is very counterproductive. The game isn't perfect, thus people are going to speak out about it, because they're paying for it..why wouldn't you?

You don't want to read these big hullabaloos...THEN DON'T READ THEM. Anything with seble's name in it, don't read. Anything in all caps (BEWARE) that suggests some grand scheme to get a user get kicked off of WIS, don't read. I mean really Dave, it should take about 1 minute to figure out whether you're going to find a thread helpful or not, and if you don't like it, move along. I love that your solution is don't gripe as opposed to you exhibiting the self control to not read what you don't want to. It's not hard to do.

I guess thirdly and lastly, if you're seeking specific info about HD, why not just create a new post and say here's the XYZ that I'm looking for, can you help? There are plenty of guys here (me included) that are more than willing to help newer guys with the nuances of the game, but you have to ask. I find it funny how you're whining about people "whining".

Take care man and lighten up. Life is too short to not do what you want.

Easy:  If someone makes such a point within two posts someone will hijack it to take a whack at Seeble, or some other poster.

He did do what he wanted, which was to point out how much crap is being spewed in virtually every thread on this message board -- the biggest offender of which is you. I just read another thread where you said you were turning over a new leaf. Personally, I hope that new leaf involves some self moderation that will lead to you posting about 90% less than you already do.

Why don't you just use the new "block user" function?  What you're asking is exactly what it's purpose is, no?

Oh, and criticizing the criticizers is a bit hypocritical, no?  Just saying.........  :^)

Niven, I usually agree with your posts 100%, but I gotta say, this time I'm with Colonels.  There is nothing in his post that I can honestly say I disagree with.  I'm not trying to start an argument here, but if the post you quoted didn't have Colonels name attached to it, could you really sit there and say that you disagree with anything he wrote?  Honestly?

Agreed.

The level of whining and ******** we're seeing right now is poison for a game that is built in part on continuity and community, and is far more harmful to HD than anything seble is or isn't doing.

I hope you can appreciate that there's a difference between posts like "there seems to be a problem with the new engine, take a look at this" and ones like "look at this bullshit, I can't believe how badly seble has screwed the pooch here, this game is ruined." We've been seeing way, way too much of the latter, and it's starting to feed on itself.

Even though I was one of the one's who posted more of the latter comments than the former, I've gotta agree with this.

See Anton, we don't disagree on everything.

On a serious note, there were things said in the other thread that were inappropriate.  I know this sounds odd, but please don't take that stuff personally.  Every once in awhile, I feel like getting into an argument, and strange as this may sound, it's actually kind of enjoyable, going back and forth with someone with some brains in their head.  Like I said in the other post, I work around the dregs of society, most of whom can barely recite the alphabet.  To be able to argue/debate/whatever you want to call it, with someone like you is fun because it helps keep me from falling down to their level intellectually and tends to help keep me sharp. So, as I said, nothing personal, okay?

Hmm, wish I'd seen that before I turned in for the night...

You crossed what I consider to be 'the line' exactly once in that other thread, but you did a Bobby Beamon over it. I've already sent in a ticket on it -- and the only other person I've ever done that with is snake_p, back at the height of his multiple alias GD forum trolling, so you should almost be weirdly honored -- but I'll send in a follow-up in your defense.

Don't know Snake as I have never played GD, but if I should feel honored, then I guess I will!!  :^)

Honestly, it's not really colonels specific arguments that I have a problem with, although I do have some issues with them (i.e. the "THEN DON'T READ THEM" theory). There are many threads on this message board that start out useful and then degrade into chaos that is created by the verbal diarrhea coming from users like colonels. So users who are actually looking for real information should just ignore these threads? Is that what it's come to? This once useful thread is so filled with constant bickering and other tripe that half the coaches who play HD should have to ignore it? Sounds like a good plan <sarcasm>.

Regarding this thread in particular, it wasn't really the content of colonels' post, but the overall condescending tone. The guy wanted to vent about the fact that this message board has turned to sh*t (which it has). Did he really need to be talked down to for doing that and be told to lighten up by the one user who probably needs to lighten up the most out of anyone?
7/9/2010 1:50 PM
Good answer Niven.  Well written (and I'm being serious).  I can most certainly agree that the tone was probably a bit much, I see where you're coming from on that.  It just looked to me, at first glance, that because it was Colonels who had posted the response, that you might have seen the name and didn't really read what he had written.  Now that I go back and re-read the post myself, it does come off as condescending.

Pretty sure I know which one you're talking about Anton, but I think you're reading a little too deep into the line.  I can see how you may have interpreted it, but believe me, how you interpreted it and what I meant were two entirely different animals.  Nothing there......siriously!  Anyway, if they way you read it is how I think you read it (based on your posts), I apologize.
