BCS SimAI school not available? Topic

I notice Mich St. in Iba does not show up as an available job. Am I having a brain cramp or what gives?

It was probably claimed during the season by a returning coach picking up a new team at the signup page...I think

Dacj's got it - some returning coach claimed it that way.

Thank you.

I've always thought that this was badly done by WIS. The returning coach should have to apply at the same time as everyone else and let the best coach get the job. Letting them reserve it early is not fair to anyone else who is qualified and wants it for the upcoming season.

and if the returning coach somehow doesnt get any of the jobs they apply for?

Tough break!  Let them apply for more than 4 schools if they are returning coaches.

can't they just pick a team during the sign up period?

Then they pick up a team like a new coach would during the new coach signup period. Isn't that how it works if a coach gets fired?

Agreed... you should not be able to reserve any d1 job

I understand your point, but it's also a bad business move. If they have a returning customer who wants to plunk down his (or her, sorry moy) hard-earned $12.95 right then-and-there, they'd be crazy not to let them.

Honestly, I don't think it's an advantage at all. I've always looked at it like you're applying after everyone else did in the previous jobs period. We're talking about sim teams here -- it's not like they've improved their position/roster in the interim. They've almost always gotten significantly worse.

If I'm a coach that is on the verge of getting my dream job and then I find out that I would have qualified for it, but can't get it, because a coach who hasn't played in a few seasons reserved that team, then I probably am not thrilled and will wind up not playing.

New coach comes in and hasn't played on the new engine and doesn't like it or doesn't have the success with recruiting, because that has changed as well, and that user quits.  You now have lost 2 coaches, when you could have kept both if you would apply the same rules to everyone.

If a user really wants to plunk down the $12.95, they are going to do so whether it is right then and there or they wait a week or two.  If they don't want to wait, then they didn't want to play that bad to begin with.

I'd rather keep a current customer happy than a customer that comes and goes.  The current, loyal customer will always spend more in the long run.

Fail.

If you've waited this long for your dream DI job, you'll wait a couple of seasons more to see whether the incoming coach craps out.

If it wasn't reserved and you applied but lost out to another coach, would you quit then? Somehow I doubt it.
