Smith Mid-Major update Topic

At the end of non-conf there are a grand total of 1 ranked mid-major program.  There are another 2 recieving votes.

That makes 3 Mid-Majors to the 37 Big 6.

Yeah, its really really bad.  The qualtiy of recruits ranked 1-5 at their position has improved, and #6-60 has gotten laughably worse.

The #50 PG/SG probably has one of Spd/PER/BH/Pass with a cap below 50 and the #50 PF/C has a max below 50 on LP/Reb/Blk/Def/Ath I bet.

So I just made that up, and decided to Check in Allen.

#50 SG George Threlkeld
Ball Handling 35 = Average potential

#51 PG Nelson Atwater
Passing 56 average, Speed 61 Average

#51 PF Sam Manuel
Reb 59 Low

#54 C Josh Cochran
LP = 49 average

So many 50 is an exaggeration, but 60 isn't.  I used to have D3 players that are passable at D1 starters now.  I didn't go fishing for these guys, I just looked at the #50 guy if I had FSS'ed him, and if not I looked at #51, etc.

The new recruit generation (Seble) has pretty much ruined the fun of DI for all except maybe 70 or so coaches in each workd.

Smith World only has about 30 human DI coaches anyway, they should just shut it down.

they should shutdown some worlds so all of them can be filled up

nams - my smith is about half full in d1, which is pretty much the same everywhere, some might have 30-50 more coaches, but by and large half full

jay - with the d1 worlds only half full, at least some recruits are available, if they were all full, I am not sure there are enough d1 or d2 level recruits to fill d1, game would get pretty scary for those 300 or so d1 coaches, as well as the 300 or so d2 coaches, and 300 or so d3 coaches, even at half full, recruiting in d1 has become - lets say controversial = LOL

OR, i was just feeling a little punchy at work today.  was hoping for a better response to the post actually.

btw, in Wooden this season, definitely the second season of the new recruits all the way through, 35 non-Big 6 teams made the tournament.

Rupp has 9 non-bcs top 25 teams.... another 7 receiving votes....

We are in the ct now. This is the 2nd season with new recruits, I think.

We need to look at rpi, not top 25. Top 25 can reward teams in crap conference w. gaudier records, so it's going to skew towards non-BCS.

In Allen, only two of the top 25 rpi teams are from non-BCS conferences. And the better of the two is a sim ai.

Rupp.

9 non-bcs in the top 25 rpis....23 in the top 50. End of season 2 of new recruits.

Here's how DI RPI breaks out in Smith,

-    2 out the top 10 RPI are non-BCS
-    4 out of the top 20
-    6 out of the top 30
-  12 out of the top 40
-  15 out of the top 50
-  20 out of the top 60

Given that the non-BCS conferences are much less full than the BCS conference, those ratios doesn't seem too bad.   Now, one key point is that we just finished non-conference play, so I suspect that those schools that are in conferences with fewer humans will see their RPIs go down as they're forced to play SIMs.

That being said, is the RPI any distribution now than it was before the recruiting changes?     Didn't the Big 6 always have higher RPIs in general as much because a number of good coaches gravitate there and the conferences are just more full in general?

One of things that I've asked in a previous thread is given all the angst and doom that the new recruits are supposed to bring to mid-majors, has anyone actually done any sort of look to see what impact has been seen post recruiting changes?    Are mid-majors making the NT less?   Are they not going as far as they used to go?   Are their RPIs dropping?    I've heard a lot of stuff, but haven't seen anything to back it up.    Not saying that things haven't happened, just that I haven't seen anything that shows that things have happened.

Yeah, recruiting has completely, totally changed, and its just going to be an adjustment.
