I think the show was ok, but they made no attempt to actually get into the minds of the Detroit area.

The short fight between the White suburb cop and the City cop seemed odd. More like how people on the east coast act.

I think they just missed the flavor of a great area to live!

"minds of the Detroit area"? Huh?  Also about flavor, what does **** taste like?, you being the expert and all.

Great area to live?  I live near Detroit and Ann Arbor and, to a lesser extent, Royal Oak, are the only decent places to live within an hour.

There is crime and unemployment in a lot of major cities.

The Detroit area is rich in culture and diversity. Except for a Metropolis like LA or NY I cannot imagine a better place to live.

Wow.  Not only are you dense, but you seem to have a complete lack of touch with reality.  I have lived in 10 states and several countries in my life (plus I travel several weeks a month), and I have never seen a location in such a state of despair as Detroit.  It is more poverty stricken than any place I can imagine...  and reminds one almost of scenes from Escape From New York.  Hell, I have seen cities in downtrodden countries like Laos is better shape than Detroit.

ouch.

It's true though.  I was last in Detroit at the jazz fest 2 years ago and it felt like I was touring a Baghdad Market quartered off by Marines.

Again we are talking about a small section of the whole of the Detroit Area. There are some "Bombed out" sections of Detroit.

Downtown Detroit and the area around the Stadiums is up to par with any city. The new center Area and wayne State are alive and thriving. I live in the NW area of Warren. I am surrounded by a retail Mecca. And I am a short drive from 2 major malls, Lakeside and Sommerset.

All 4 Major sports. Top 10 Symphony. Great Opera. Can visit a foreign country in less than 1 hour.

Who else can do all that?

Someone once told me that LA is kind of like the west coast Detroit.

I stand by that. Let me explain.

Compare Detroit and Chicago.

Detroit is more like LA. Flat with roads and people drive to get there.

Chicago is more like SF. People have a neighberhood. You know people on your block. You shop by foot.

That's like saying I have more in common with you than I do my wife because you and I both post on WIS boards.

FWIW, Warren is a shithole...  unless you love strip malls.

I find it funny that you would reference those two areas.  Outside of the stadium itself, everything surrounding it is wretched...

And near Wayne State, where I occasionally catch shows at the Magic Stick, is a haven for shady people.  Hell, I have been accosted multiple times at the stores on Woodward.

And if your car breaks down before you make it to the 9 crackwhore-free square blocks of the city where all that stuff is, you're going to get raped, murdered, and raped again.

I haven't seen the TV show, but I'm guessing it's pretty unrealistic if it's based on the concept that murders are actually investigated in Detroit.
9/25/2010 10:51 PM
I mean ****, Detroit cops can't even serve a warrant without using flashbangs and murdering a 7 year old girl.

Top 10 Symphony? In the midwest. Maybe in the US.

Ain't no Cleveland Orchestra.
