I'm wondering if I could get some opinions on how other coaches would set the distros for my Rochester team.  The depth chart looks like this:

PG - Golden, Garren, Maupin, Taylor (currently ineligible)
SG - Carter, Garren, Taylor
SF - Bradley, Scott, Garren
PF - Petit, Manfredi, Stewart
C   - Carroll, Stewart, Manfredi

I'll post what my actual distros are later this evening or tomorrow after I get some feedback.

there is no cookie cutter, set it and forget style to doing distros. distros must be changed for each opponent in order to maximize your player's potentials.

many very successful teams rarely change their distros

Agreed.

I generally make small adjustments against man defenses or very inside- or outside-biased zones.  I'm really just looking for baseline values.

they'd be better if they did.

Just based strictly on your roster, I would probably set them up something like this. Of course, if this were really my team, I would be adjusting based on season results up to now. Also, for my teams, I factor in 3-point settings and stamina/playing time when setting distro. This is based on 100% so any remaining distro would be spread among the rest of the roster.

Golden   3%      Garren     14%
Carter   14%     Garren      ---
Bradley 14%     Scott          9%
Petit        6%     Manfredi     9%
Carroll   14%     Stewart      6%

I think micromanaging like this is what makes great teams good and good teams mediocre.

only if the micro changes happen in fact to be beneficial - which is darn hard to do, especially in an environment in which we dont know every detail of how the engine works and where the environment is dynamic

clearly i have no clue about what i'm talking about. i've only won 3 national championships in the past five seasons in knight, but you guys keep thinking distro isn't that important.

lack of respect for game planning here is mind boggling. there is so much that a coach can do to better their team. you can't set your distro up one way for every game or just change it for defenses, the fact is that most coaches here have a lazy approach like it or not and i'm telling you, you can do more, you can be better.

I'm gonna say the #1 reason you have won 3 in 5 is that you have much more talented teams than your opponents.

I would agree with that since you piggy backed an A- prestige D3 team and won with superior talent...easier when you can recruit better than everyone from day one... Try moving up.
how about you win something? where are your championships hot shot? how about you do a little less yapping and more listening and maybe you could become a great coach and not a mediocre one.

lots of coaches take over A+, A , or even A- schools and they don't win jack. so don't try to smudge my accomplishments when you don't have any.

We got woefully off topic I think.

Very far but you have to pick and chose who you take advice from.

I have won zero NT and made only one title game but then again I play against the best coaches instead of staying at D3 and pounding my chest against SIMs and newbies.....
