Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Quinton Douglas

I am concerned about the development of this pitcher. His STA, DUR, VEL, MK, TEM, and PAT have not increased a single point in four years of development. In each of those four years, I have put $20M into training. Medical budget during that time has fluctuated between $18M and $20M). His pitching coach pitching and patience ratings in those four years have been 69/48 (HiA), 71/48 (AA), 76/60 (AAA) and 75/42 (AAA).

He has made obvious progress in other areas during that time, gaining 20 points in CTL, 14 in vR, 11 in P2, and 10 points in P1.

My $20M advanced scouting budget projects him at 72 DUR, 32 STA, 94 VEL and 63 PAT. What do you think is going on here? Why is he not developing at all in certain categories?

A bit strange they havent budged at all, but what you have him at now is pretty much as good as he will get. Maybe he is a RH specialist or a setup B guy at best.

67 make up.  5th season, all of his developing years are up.  Plus, being a reliever, he's only at about one inning per game in his career.  Which won't lend to much playing time to improve, regardless of your coaching staff.

Thanks for that insightful analysis. I'll keep that in mind.

I was actually trying to understand why he improved up to 20 points in one category, but zero points in a number of others, even though projections indicate a much higher ceiling.

His physical attributes didn't improve.  None of them.  Not even the unimportant hitting/fielding attributes for a pitcher(or his height/weight).    I'm sure you noticed this.

So he's either all he can physically be(which is what you'll be or have been told if you send a ticket) or he got caught in a development bug.

It's unusual but I don't think it's impossible.

So then he's kinda like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. I wonder if his physical attributes will eventually deteriorate, or if they are locked in place for his career,

This was the WIS response to my ticket, as expected:

Every player is different. Some are at the peak of their abilities when they enter pro ball. It appears this player has reached his peak in those categories.

So then I guess my $20M of advanced scouting, which indicated a much, much higher ceiling in all of these categories, was completely worthless then?

WIS has not responded to the followup question, but it's only been 10 days.

What is the desired result of the ticket?

Apologies and the promise of a championship.

You do realize that 20m in ADV doesn't give you 100% accuracy, right?
Of course. There are a whole lot of factors that go into a player's development. But this was completely out of bounds.

I think there was either something wrong with the development cycle of this player, or with $20M advance scouting that indicated he has much higher ceilings. He has nine categories in which he did not improve a single point in his entire minor league career. I know that every player is different. But that is way outside any probability.

Why was it completely out of bounds?   Your scouts looked at a 5'11", 172 lbs 18 year old and said "Oh, he'll get bigger and stronger" and projected his skill set based on that.   Well, he didn't get bigger or stronger.  I'm sure all of us knew the 15 y/o giant in school who sported a full beard.   He just matured before everyone else.  That's what your player did.

Mike, I get what you're saying, and you may indeed be right. But with $20M advance scouting, I get this. All of these categories have not improved a single point since his first spring training:

Range: 50 Potential: 65
Arm Strength: 58 Potential: 72
Durability: 60 Potential: 72
Health: 68 Potential: 72
Patience: 44 Potential: 63
Makeup: 67 Potential: 73
Stamina: 24 Potential: 32
Velocity: 73 Potential: 94

In other categories, he showed marked improvement:

P1: 76 to 86 Potential: 87
P2: 81 to 93 Potential: 93
vR: 47 to 61 Potential: 66
vL: 37 to 46 Potential: 46
CTL: 67 to 87 Potential: 92
GL: 62 to 75 Potential: 99

I am not complaining that he didn't achieve his potential in these categories. I know that advance scouting only goes so far. But the former categories, most of which have to do with training ($20M in training all seasons), all increased nary a point.
