Democrats are the party of no! Topic

Everyone has heard about Obama's plan to keep the Bush tax cuts and in return get several things he wanted. A bi-partisan deal was passed. Everyone got something and no on got everything...

The House Democrats voted to not go for this. All but one voted against it!!

They got what they wanted with Obamacare, the Stimulus and the new Amnesty bill. So they cannot compromise at all??

It is sad when the Majority party can unite against bipartisanship like this!

Actually they did compromise on watered down bills, and the Repubs still voted no.

That is not really accurate.

They got the Stimulus bill they wanted. They didnt get the Obamacare Public Option, but that was mostly from internal Democratic feuding and the will of the people. They didnt put anything into the bill the Republicans might want, just limited its scope.

The Dems have tried for what they wanted and either got it or failed.

This was a true bi-partisan compromise and ALL the Dems bailed!

So the Democrats we forced to accept the bi-partisan compromise on the Bush Tax Cuts.

After that congress got together and passed the 9/11 responded bill, DADT and Start.

See how bi-partisan congress gets when Republicans are about to take over...

And I am not saying that it is because we won.

It is because they lost.

The Dems thought they could get a massive agenda through. They thought that they won and would always win. Republicans were dead.

They tried to push through what they wanted with no thought to the 47% that voted for McCain or the moderated who were sold a "New Washington". They said it...we won! They tried for the moon and got a lot.

Now they see that trying to force an extreme agenda on people backfires. They cut deals and went with populist stuff. Things got done. Problems were solved.

What you are saying is that the Dems said "yes." In direct contradiction to your thread-opening assertion.

Pretty much.  Where's your mea culpa on that one, Swamptacular?

The Dems were the party of no until they got slapped down in the last election.

After they started compromising things started getting done!

The Republicans did some stalling, I dont think anyone can deny this.

They were faced with a single minded force attempting to swing America far to the left. No one was making deals or letting them get a word in edgewise.

Their only response was to quit or stall enough to slow the Dems progress!

The Dems said yes. Why can't you admit that?

The Dems said "Yes if you do what we want and we dont have to compromise in any way".

When a compromise was agreed to the Dems went nuts and only backed off when public opinion was against them. I often listen to left wing talk radio in my area to get a balance of opinion and the people wanted Obama to let the tex cuts and the unemployment expire rather than give in to the Republicans on the one issue of higher tax rates.
