Has there ever been thought/talk of scrapping the medical budget and hiring a training staff instead?

I think that would be even more exciting than coach hiring, especially if you have a couple injury prone studs on your team and there are only 2-3 elite trainers/training staffs in the league.  Seems like it would add another interesting dynamic to the game, as opposed to just throwing money in a training or medical budget every year.

"I think that would be even more exciting than coach hiring" - everything is more exciting than coach hiring.
Are you a trainer?

Clearly you missed the point on that.  I was saying that we do coach hiring (which isn't exciting) and hiring a trainer would certainly be more exciting than that.

How would hiring a trainer be any different? Not trying to be argumentative but I really don't see the difference. It's just another face with ratings attached. I'd rather just assign a monetary total to that sector of the budget and be done with it.

I just feel like a good training/medical staff would have more of an on field impact than a coaching in most cases, at least from a real life standpoint.  How it translates to the game is up to the powers that be

Well, maybe - but that's what $20m gets you - a really good training staff.
I'd like to less coaches personally.

Bat Boys and mascots ? Why can't we hire them also?

I like to think trainers have more of an impact on the players and the game than bat boys and mascots.

Coach signing is the most tedious thing in this whole sim. And know you want to replace it with something just as, if not more, tedious. I like the idea expressed by hypnotoad of just having coaching as another sector to assign a monetary total to.

But isn't this game about details?  And aren't the best owners often the ones who pay the most attention to those details?  So you want to just have everything assigned so that whoever throws the most money at it gets the best results?  That's either dumb or lazy...or both.
2/26/2011 8:49 PM
There are lots and lots details; so many that we don't need to add any more like hiring individual trainers.
2/26/2011 8:55 PM
That's fair...but to say you want to take something already present and just throw it into the cap pool so you don't have to worry about it...that's lazy.
2/26/2011 11:38 PM
That's not  lazy - just making modifications. Sometimes more details really aren't worth the trouble.

Nobody likes your idea. Deal with it.
