My wonderful customer service experience Topic

Just thought I'd share with the community at large the wonderfully fulfilling, insightful and cheerful conversation I had with a CS rep about a ML FA that I didn't bid on and recieved (understand I have one of the youngest and highest potential lineup in my world, they are cheap and just now getting into their prime). We had a coach last season who, in revenge, purged his entire ML squad and any good minor leaguers. We, as league, decided at the end of last season to not only not persue those that were FA, but also to return all players that had been claimed on waivers. This was one of those players and I immediately traded him to his old franchise, but my 6.75 million was then tied up during most of free agency until the trade was completed. Definately tied my hands, but essentially I wanted to let them know about the mystery signing and just have them look into it for future reference. Totally benign. This was the confersation (there are a couple of typo in a few messages due to the glory of Swype's recognition logic).

For some reason I'm having free agents I most definately did not persue showing up at my ballpark. First it was a ML 3B with a 6.5 million dollar price tag (my position players have been pat for several seasons), now I have a DH show up and I'm an NL team. The 6.5 million dollar player really hurt. He was a guy that a previous owner had dumped, along with the rest of his squad, in a revenge purge before quitting. Everyone was giving the new owner his players back, so not only would I not have needed him, I wouldn't have gone after him anyway. That 6.5 hit to my salary has prevented me from going after the ML pitching I needed, and who were the only ML FA's that I was going for. He has been traded back to his orignal team (as per our league agreement to the new owner), but that salary was stuck in limbo while the trade when off and I missed my true target.

Anthony,

What is your specific request?

3/4/2011 10:05 AM doomey

No specific request, I handled it on my own, just pointing out a problem. Had weas a league not been dealing with that specific team, I would have been stuck with a player and salary I didn't bid on. I'll just east the minor ledger I didn't bid on's contract.

Umm, no response a to why this might have happened? Twice?

Anthony,

I still have no idea what you are asking.

3/5/2011 1:46 AM doomey
I'm asking why I got some 6.5 million dollar player added to my team that I never bid on, then later got a DH FA I didn't bid on. Why was I getting these FA's I neither bid on or wanted.

Anthony,

Who are the player's in question?

3/5/2011 1:19 PM doomey
Rico Wilfredo is the main guy I was concerned with. Now with Syracuse.

Anthony,

The player in question was signed to a 4 year, $6.75M contract in season 4.

3/6/2011 1:36 PM doomey
Yes, I know, that's what I was complaining about. I never negotiated with him. I only negotiated with pitchers on the ml level, so why was I magically awarded a guy I didn't bid on wirh a big contract?

Anthony,

The database indicates that you submitted the offer to this player.

There is no need to respond to the this ticket anymore, any future submissions regarding this topic will automatically be closed.

I'm not even asking them to fix anything (I would have if said player wasn't in the situation he was in and I couldn't trade him away), I just wanted to let them know there was an issue. Instead I get "it's in our database, don't respond anymore"? What is wrong with these people? Where is common courtesy and skillful customer interaction. It's like talking to the phone company with these guys. Arrogant and inneffectual.

I'm not gonna lie.   I have no problem knocking low level support.   Far too often they're useless.   However, even after having read your post twice, I have no idea what you're asking, what you did or what you hoped to accomplish.

This is the player, Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Rico Wilfredo, maybe someone else can figure it out.

If the objective was to get him back to Syracuse, why did you sign him as a FA?   Or are you saying you didn't sign him?   I've never heard of a FA gettng signed without an offer.   And, if the cash was tied up, you should have known an offer existed and withdrawn it.

While you're at it; ask them about designating with waivers a player that has options.

He's claiming that he didn't offer him a contract but that he signed there anyhow.

Well, if the cash was tied up during most of the free agency, he should have known an offer was out there.   It wasn't an instant signing per his version.

Anway, my point is this:  If I've got 6.75m in unaccounted for offers out there, I'm finding out where it is and sending a ticket.   I'm not waiting to send a ticket after the fact.

I'm not doubting something funky could have happened but the timeline isn't working for me.

And, for the record, CS doesn't seem to be answering tickets anymore past Level 1.  I've got one open(about 3 weeks) about the designation/waiver issue and another(about a week) about the medical bug.

The first I knew of this player was when he showed up in my GM office. I did NOT bid on him, I only bid on 2 ML pitchers, period. That is the nutshell of the issue. It was resolved inter-leauge, but it is a problem nontheless, because if we hadn't resloved it internally, I'd have been stuck with some FA I didn't bid on or want.

The cash was tied up after the first FA signing cycle when he showed up, so, yes I knew about it and immediately traded him to the right owner, but during the trade process, that cash was tied up.

All I wanted was a simple, "ok, we'll look into it" or "not sure what happened, that's rare, but we'll log it for future consideration". How hard is that? Zero communication skills.
3/7/2011 4:01 PM
I'm not clear on the chain of events.

It looks like he was traded to SYR, not signed as a FA.
3/7/2011 4:04 PM

Doomey is not the owner who claimed the player on waivers.  According to the transaction history, he was claimed by another team then left as a FA during rollover.  Doomey then signed him to a FA contract and traded him back to the original franchise that had released him.

The transaction history just doesn't add up with his version of the story.

3/7/2011 4:05 PM

Trades only last 24 hours.  Not "most of FA".

I'm seeing discontinuities in your story.

3/7/2011 4:07 PM

MikeT, The arragement was a boilerplate to let you know how it was resolved internally. The 6.75 was deducted at first signing, it was NOT missing from my budget until then, then was tied up in limbo while the trade completed which spanned most of free agency. The ticket was first issued shortly after the issue was discovered and trade completed. I had no unaccounted money until I signed in to see this guy on my doorstep, or you'd be darn certain I would have ticketed earlier.

I understand the first part is a bit convoluted due to the circumstances, but the essense of the ticket (the unwanted FA) was there and was reiterated, multiple times for them.
