Lame-duck owner/trade situation Topic

OK...here's the deal. Owner says he wants out of the world, and wants nothing to do with it. Won't even deal with the hand-over of the team to a new owner, and posts in the classifieds saying the exact same thing. He also, apparently, based on sitemails I received, posted in all of his worlds he was leaving.

He also makes a trade.

Said trade should be vetoed, correct?

Does it matter when said owner made the trade? In the particular situation at hand, the owner made the trade around 8:45 AM and then quit the world at 11:15 AM.

For what it's worth, I don't think it matters at all the timing -- the deal should be vetoed. The problem is if more time has gone by, many people have clicked approve trade already....

Another point...does it matter if the trade is absolutely horrifically awful, as well? Because, in this instance, it really was...

This player, which was being dealt by the lame-duck team:

I really, really, really wish you had the chance to change your mind on a vote up until the final decision.  I may veto something, or approve it, then a couple of hours later something is brought up in WC that convinces me I should have gone the other way.  I know I can just leave the trade up there and it counts as an approval, but sometimes Its nice to clear things out while looking to make other deals so the page doesn't become so cluttered.

Taz, I think you're crazy a lot of the time...but I actually like this idea. Things change...This is a situation where someone may have approved and would change to a veto. Although, given the players involved, I have no idea how you could approve that...but...

nice return for that pitcher. um...are you making plans for what will happen once that trade goes thru (if it doesn't get vetoed)? tell me about the owner who will be getting the pitcher for those piles of crap

If the owner is imminently departing, veto.  No questions asked.

If he's playing out the season . . . it depends.  Depends on the integrity and reputation of the departing owner (as perceived by the other owners in the world), and on the merits of the trade itself.  Any doubt at all . . . err on the side of veto.

It did go through and not get vetoed, amazingly. The owner quit, then this morning sort of changed his mind. Unreal, really...

This was an immediate departure situation in a world still in spring training.

looks like sport and tribefan are the owners (sometimes i can figure out stuff on my own!)
seems like the owners in that world are none too dismayed about that type of transaction. the whole 'he didn't get enough back for that guy' argument...

It's baffling, really sergei.

And yeah, I think there might be several people that are the same person -- we had to veto 5 or 6 trades between mambrose12 and 1tribefan as well, that were actually WORSE than this trade.

For the record, CS has said there are no aliases in the world.

that doesn't mean crap. we all know that different ip addys can be used, different credit cards and so on.

hmmm....how much do you like being in this world? i didnt' do enough research to see if it's a public world or if it's private who the commish is.

is the sport owner staying then? does anyone besides you seem to give a crap about all this?

Public.

A couple care.

The rest would rather rape newbies...It essentially proves that worlds cannot/ should not be saved from themselves.

a couple isnt' enough to make any difference. yeesh. and to think i entertained getting into a public league as recently as today.

There are good public leagues...this was turning into one of them for a while

Well, and there are probably barely eight...enough to almost veto everything as long as everyone checks in. But in Spring Training...
3/11/2011 2:39 PM
spring training is no excuse for not at least looking at the pending trades
