I have been called a victim when I point out what I consider to be a double standard between the way Conservatives are treated for questionable comments and the way liberals are.

I want to call out the left.

Never in the history of the Presidency has a President ever been as protected against criticism as much as this one. At the same time the attacks against Conservatives have accelerated out of control.

I bring this up now because of a Comment by a prominent pundit and scoial commentator of issues relevant to the LBGT community Dan Savage. In response to an analogy commparing the Republicans in Congress to Yasser Arafat Mr Savage said "Not exactly like him, I wish they were all ******* dead".

So lets see..."Obama is a dick", "Obama is chuggin a 40 ounce" and we compare that to "I wish they were all ******* dead"!

Is there anyone that can stand up and not denounce Mr Savage?

And of course the media is outraged?...no they are not. Google it and you will see that no one in the media cared.

So clearly there is a Double Standard and it must be addressed every day so people who do not follow politics closely may believe the Obama Propoganda Machine!

You set the standard!

I was watching and was shocked when he said it and expected he would have to apologize for it later.  I think it also stole from the Arafat line, because Republicans are getting almost everything they want, like Arafat being offered 96% of the West Bank, and turning it down because they have no intention of actual negotiations.

If you make a standard it has to apply to everyone equally.

Savage apologized just a few hours after the show. Maybe if the people you defend had the good sense and moral fiber to admit their idiocy that quickly and easily, they too wouldn't be subject to as much scrutiny.

That, by the way, is called "being held to the same standard". Say something stupid and fess up to it it immediately? You get a pass. Say something stupid and dig in your heels? You are begging for a media frenzy.

You should probably change the thread title though swamp, since none of this has anything to do with Obama other than that he was the target of some of the stupidity you mentioned.

Weird.   Seems that almost everyone who replied tried to deflect the attention elsewhere.   The guy made a stupid comment.    Has nothing to do with Reagan, racism or the national debt.    How did those become talking points?

Oh, that's right, on the rare occassion that swampy makes a legit point, it's better to talk about something else.

Is that like the sitting Republicans always caring about constitutional amendments regarding balanced budgets when there is a democrat in the presidency...but then not giving a rats *** during a republican admin?  And then all of a sudden caring again when there's a Dem back in the oval office? Or about not giving a **** about defecit spending until they're the ones not doing the spending?  I seem to recall a president....Reagan I believe...calling for an increase in the debt ceiling.  To most cons, he was the greatest thing since sliced bread.  So kinda like those double standards? 

Kinda like all the Democrats - including our sitting President - voting against increasing the debt ceiling in 2006, but now they are all for it.

This is the biggest problem in our national government - the polarization along party lines.

Both sides are wrong - both are to blame - both suck - both need to go
