I have a player with a no trade clause in his contract. In the past I have been able to trade players with the NTC to another team as long as that team had a better win record. However in this case the the player refused the trade even though the other team has won three more games than I have.

and also, i'm not sure if it goes by current record or current overall ratings of the ml teams  when it's in season

Current overall ratings? Determined by what?

world office, reports, franchise rankings

as i said, i'm not sure this is how it goes

Not sure if that plays a part but, when I tried to trade for the same guy, I had to be three games better and my FR is 2 points higher.

I'd never seen it before.

I really don't think the franchise rankings are involved. They could be I guess, but they don't tell much of a story. Pretty worthless to me. Besides the other team has a higher ranking than me.

The team he's trying to trade him to now is 1 point higher in FR.

Not sure if this is a factor but the player is not a 10/5 NTC.   The NTC was offered as part of the max contract.

I have not considered one thing. I'm in 2nd place in my division, the other team is in 3rd place in their divsion. (with a better record than mine). Maybe the standings are involved?

I had always heard that it was W/L record.  Though standings makes more sense.    If a team with a poorer record actually has a better shot at making the playoffs because they play in a weaker division or league, one would think that could look more attractive to a NTC guy.

I would say file a ticket, but I guess that depends on whether you want to complete this trade before the end of this month.

I believe that team has to be 3 positions better in the WW ranking.  I actually ran into that this season...kept waiting for my team to get ahead of the other team.  Once my WW position was 3 better, the player accepted the trade.

This would make sense, in that the standings can change 3 games in between the acceptance and the processing of a trade.

My WW ranking was 18 when I tried to trade. The other team was 21. Three better didn't work.

How far into the season did you try to trade him? If it was toward the beginning of the season, I believe it goes by the previous year's record. You have to wait something like 30 games before it starts taking this season's record into account.
