DOOMSDAY: Round Two - League 02 - FINISHED! Topic

In this Round, you’re drafting a pitching staff and a hitting staff. Based on team E.R.A. and team Runs per Game stats, the three top hitting and pitching teams from each season from 1901 (including the Federal League boys) are listed. They’re split up rather evenly between leagues so that each league will get some old guys, some new guys and some in-between guys.

Here’s the deal: With your first pick in the draft, you draft either a hitting staff or a pitching staff – one or the other. However, know that if you take an American League hitting staff, that you must take an American League Pitching Staff to go with it. If you take a National League pitching staff, you must take a National League hitting staff to go with it. The teams in each league will be split up by N.L. and A.L. The draft order for each league will be 1-24, 24-1. The 24-hour pick rule applies here as it did in Round One.

Also, when building your team, you must have a minimum of four players from each team you draft. For example, in League One, if you draft the 1909 Chicago Cubs / Pittsburgh Pirates / New York Giants pitching staff and the 1974 Los Angeles Dodgers / Cincinnati Reds / Pittsburgh Pirates hitting staff, you must have a minimum of four pitchers from the 1909 Cubs, a minimum of four pitchers from the 1909 Pirates and a minimum of four pitchers from the 1909 Giants, as well as a minimum of four position players from each of the three teams in your hitting group. Obviously one of the six teams represented on your roster will have a fifth guy. There will be no Free Agents in this round.

Other information that you need to know for Round Two:

*Clones: Yes, though we shouldn’t see too many of them.
*Waiver Wire, Trades and A.A.A. – NO!
*Designated Hitter – YES.
*Injuries – Turned Off.
*CAP – No cap – just build the best roster you can.
*Stadium – Any stadium you want.

Who Moves On?

Once Round TWO is complete, the owners who own the eight playoff teams in each league will earn a spot in Round Two. 8 x 8 = 64 spots. That leaves 8 spots to fill. Therefore, we’re also going to grant the one owner from each league that had the most Wins that didn’t make the playoffs a spot in the next round. That’s 8 more spots which = 72 spots. The tie-break will be (1) Head-to-Head (if in the same league), (2) the biggest run differential between earned runs allowed by the pitching staff and runs scored by the offense; and (3) Most Home Wins.

First Pick:

(P) 1965: Los Angeles Dodgers / Pittsburgh Pirates / San Francisco Giants

This was tough:

NL : Pitching 2005: St. Louis Cardinals / Houston Astros / New York Mets
12/22/2011 12:29 AM
You're right, the NL 2005 pitching was my second choice and almost my first.  As tough as that pick was though, this one was even tougher.  Since I'm starting out with a Pitching squad with the first team, let's see how things come out when starting out with a hitting squad:

1923: Cleveland Indians / Detroit Tigers / New York Yankees

12/22/2011 3:17 AM
1914: Boston Red Sox / Chicago White Sox / Washington Senators
12/22/2011 11:03 PM
1931 AL Hitting: New York Yankees / Cleveland Indians / Philadelphia Athletics
12/23/2011 1:33 AM
Let's close out the AL East.  I'll take the American league pitching of  1906: Cleveland Naps / Chicago White Sox / St. Louis Browns
12/23/2011 8:35 AM
NL P 1917 Giants/Phillies/Cubs
12/23/2011 11:28 AM
1997 NL Pitching
12/24/2011 12:24 AM
Pitching: 1981: Houston Astros / Los Angeles Dodgers / San Francisco Giants
12/24/2011 8:42 AM
Pitching: 2001: Seattle Mariners / Oakland Athletics / New York Yankees
