I play in a world where a previous owner signed some turkey to 20M over 5 years, max, and he now has four more years to go and apparently the new owner petitioned WIS to shorten this guys contract from the remaining 4 years to only one year and then he hits free agency.

Anyone ever heard of this happening before?  I ticketed it as I think playing GOD is bogus.  I don't know if they will reverse the change, but if they don't I will quit the world, and perhaps the game altogether.  

This happen a lot for "bad contracts?"

never heard of that happening before, and I can't believe WIS would do that.  If so, that is bogus.  I'd quit the league too

Yep, that was in the world I commish.  Admin will do it only if there if you can make a well-documented case that the contracts were intentionally given in bad-faith by a disgruntled owner in an effort to cripple a team.  I had the documentation to prove it (including a ticket that one of the owners in question himself had opened with ADMIN) and had to work with ADMIN over a period of time to undo around 95% of the damage.

But if it's a contract issued out of stupidity, then I agree . . . ADMIN should not be stepping in.

It looks like the contract wasn't even that bad.

We did it in Roy Hobbs. We have a contact rule preventing max contracts. Veteran owner forgot about the rule, we petitioned to WIS, and the owner agreed as well, so they changed it to a one year deal. This was one of those rare occasions you hear of.

This was an owner that spent two seasons  with the team, and did not do any other outrageous moves.  He signed one 33 year old pitcher to a 5 year, 19.8M per year contract.  Left after season one of that contract.  New guy steps in, tries to trade this contract, doesn't get any bites (mind you this pitcher is pretty good still, OVR 80, good ratings across the board) and his team is going nowhere.

He apparently petitioned Admin through a ticket and they all of a sudden cut this contract so he is now in the last year then hits FA.  Mass World chats are happening, and most think it is crap, with a few thinking gaming the system is a good thing to get away with.

Nice precedent being set by WifS.

With the exception of the intentionally bad contract, WIS should never shorten a deal.  Didn't they start a we-don't-fix-user's-errors thread a little while back?  If so, they should listen to their own policy. 

I'm furious over it, and I am furious over being furious over a silly game too.  I spent 5 seasons building my team the Jackson Mud Cats, into the best team in the world, they are stacked beyond all belief finally with about the next 5 years together.  Was going to be a good run by them but I don't think I can continue to play this game if a simple ticket to Admin gets something like this changes so easily.

I have ticketed to have it reversed back to the way it was and based on the answer to that will make my decision.

thats just horrible.
