I am in a league where owners seem to have a lack of respect for advanced scouting, like they know a trick to avoid spending money on it. What is the deal is there a trick to advanced scouting? wtf is going on

There's a formula for predicting how a prospect will develop based on previous seasons development. I don't have it, but some people use it. I don't use advanced scouting at all, as a prospects future development is easily predictable based on past season(s) development.

So aren't you afraid of being had in a trade? or do you just not trade much?

Also if i try to trade for a player (prospect)  Who was just drafted last season, wouldn't that work to my advantage where as you would have only one season of development to study?

I sent you a site mail of how I do it

Owners with 0 ADV tend not to trade for first or second year players, unless they have saved draft projections from previous seasons, and they had seen the prospect in question.

ohhhhh you bunch of cheaters :)

Could you send me the site mail too?

Who needs to trade?  Spend the money on your coaches and scouting.  98% of the time, the other owner is way too proud of their own players and demand a fortune for the most pedestrian of players

This isn't some secret.   Development is pretty standard.    Drafts are fairly predictable.   IFAs are even more predictable.   For 2nd/3rd year pros, you have a development pattern to view.   A high draft pick is probably pretty good.  A high dollar IFA is probably pretty good.    Owners can mess up all three(development, draft, IFA bonus) but you can see an owner's track record.   There are enough clues, if you're willing to do the work, to figure out if a prospect has a BL future.

It generally takes a several seasons of experience to get there, unless you want to spend a bunch of time researching now.  I don't use advanced anymore either but it took awhile to get there.  Not really a trick at all.  There are other successful owners who prefer to use ADV - to each their own...

Yeah, I started going to 0 after my 4th season in MG.   I'm guessing that was 10-11 seasons into HBD(the early years when everyone was still learning and you didn't really have a base to draw from).    It might take half that time now to get a good feel for it.

The concern, if there is one, is if/when WifS changes ADV's effect on the game.   Those at 0 are a long way from getting their number back up if necessary.

The drop in ADV scouting will come naturally as you play more seasons of HBD.  I have begun to drop to zero ADV in most of my worlds.  You get to a point where you can use other things to assess talent, such as progressions, draft slots relative to the drafter's scouting, IFA signing amounts, etc.  You also get to a point where a quick glance at a player just tells you what you need to know, it is hard to explain but if you keep playing you will get there.

The only exception I have to this is if I take over a POS team and do a full rebuild, I like to have some ADV (in lieu of payroll) as I will be more aggressive via trading to build that organization.

So there's no "potential"? All players develop on a predictable arch?
