Would you play this guy at SG? Topic

I have a PF with these ratings http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=0&pid=2125802

Would you play this guy at SG? I'm lacking with my guards this season and wonder if this guy can take up the slack. Has anyone ever done this before who has some insight?

with the exception of the RB, he looks like a guard to me. I think he lacks the ATH to be an effective front court player but I'm also not sure about playing him in the back court either.

Biggest issue I see is that you're not very deep as far as the front court goes either (unless you're going to use one of your SF's as a big).  If you feel like front court depth isn't going to be an issue, why not try him as a guard?  Can't imagine that the Big Sky has "that" good of guards that he would be completely dominated and his lack of athleticism would probably be less of a hindrance to him playing in the back court as opposed to playing down low.  At the very least, you've got exhibition games to experiment with to see how he fares.

Well, it does look like I have front court issues but I have 4 Centers 2 with decent enough speed to play PF and I don't really plan on running uptempo at all so I think they should be sufficient. I've played 3's as 4's and 4's as 5's and 4's as 3's, but I've never played a 4 as a 2 and was wondering if anyone has done it with any success. I want him to be more than serviceable at the 2 I guess I should say. I'm wondering if he could be dominant. Will his RB be effective at the 2? Will his ATH hinder him against more ATH guards? If I was thinking about this in RL terms he should dominate but this is WIS so I don't really know. I'm going to try this out in exhibition as you said. I just hope it works out.

Will do. The plan is right now to start him one game and bring him off the bench the next. Hopefully such a tiny sample size will show me something.

Frankly, I'd play him at PG before I did at SG.

Really? Why?

ball handling and passing are better than perimeter

I'm kinda stacked at the point with guys that would be better at pg that him. What would happen if I played him as a 2?

If you played him at 2, that would be OK in my opinion - but you wouldn't be getting much PER scoring from your 2 Guard position, so hopefully your 1 and 3 will make up for that......otherwise with no perimeter scoring teams can gameplan against you pretty easily.

He's not playable at pg/sg with that kind of ath/spd. He can play sf/pf depending on matchup.

For those saying you would play him at pg or sg, please note this is D1, not D2.

Yeah, that's not a D1 guard.  You can probably get away with it in the Big Sky, but you're going to be in real trouble with him against decent teams.  I definitely wouldn't play him at PG.

The funny thing is he's actually faster than all my guards except one. I always thought he looked like a D2 guard. He's just the odd man out then because I have 3-5 locked up. I guess I can switch him in against press teams. I'm just at a loss as to how to set my lineup this season. My balance is way off.

Yes, it's D1, but it's also the Big Sky.  Can't imagine the Big Sky is loaded with badass guards.  Plus, given the rest of his roster, this guy might be his best option.  Against good teams, yes, he'll probably be in big trouble.  But against teams at the same level as him, he may be able to get away with playing him at SG.  He's not Kobe Bryant, that's for sure, but he's probably serviceable.
