Prestige Recruiting Value Topic

I know this is a subject of much debate, but what are some ideas about the recruiting value of prestige at D1?  For example a D+ going against a B prestige, how much more is one going to have to put in than the other?

At least 100% is my estimate.

I think its very small actually - maybe 25%

you can assume D+ to B is 100% without being too far off. D+ to B could be 4 partial grades (1 and 1/3 full grades), or 6 partial grades (2 full grades), depending on if its a high or low D+/B. so there is a pretty big range there, from best case to worst case. using exactly 5 partial grades, the D+ school is going to have to put in almost exactly double to break even.

this is definitely not true. no offense dac, but if thats the assumption you operated under at bama, that could have been the cause of a good part of your troubles.

Check baker's Phelan profile to see who the B and D+ might be...

I used to think prestige was worth more at D1 than I think now.  I now think some of my assumptions about prestige were actually based on considering credit.

I think in that situation the D+ school will need to spend at least double and probably a little more.

In the past I've seen speculation that a team with a letter grade disadvantage would need to spend roughly twice as much to keep up with the other team, all other things (distance, type of effort) being equal.  However, most of the responses here seem to think that the difference is less than that.

An old forum fact was that at D1, to overcome a full letter grade disadvantage, the lower prestige team was required to put in twice the amount of effort to be even.

I also agree that this was an overestimation of the actual prestige multiplier.
