Real Player ratings..Bird...Magic...Jordan Topic

Well the threads about "what modern player would fit these ratings" got me thinking... What would the legends of the game be rated? Feel free to add any player you want to.  I'm going to start with Larry Bird (B/c he would probably be a D1 role player or DII superstar in this game).   I might be off because I was born before his time but I'll give it a ballpark (good estimate)?

Bird:
IQ: A++++++++, A+++++++
Athleticism 60
5

Speed 50
3

Rebounding 90
-1

Defense 80

Shot Blocking 60

Low-post 75
5

Perimeter 95
3

Ball Handling 76
3

Passing 92
4

Work Ethic 110
-1

Stamina 90
8

Durability 80
2

FT Shooting A

Larry Bird led his team to the title game, might want to bump those ratings up a whole lot, especially the ath/spd. Also. Per and pas have to be 100.

Couldn't disagree more.  Obviously SPD and ATH should go up towards decent D1 levels.  But if you make his pass 100, what is Magic's pass?  What you really need to do is give him A++++++++++++++++++ IQs instead of just A+.

I'm fine with his ath/speed.  The guy was, at best, an average athlete.  Couldn't run, couldn't jump.  I'm fine with the 95 per as well...if he has 100, then what do guys like Steve Kerr or Tim Legler have?  I know it was a different game in the 80's, but he still didn't even shoot 40% from 3.

Most of the ratings need at least a small bump if not a major increase in my opinion. Bird may not have shot high percentages all the time from three ball land, but he was a great shooter and that should be represented with a 95 or so PER. Passing should also be above 90 but not at 100. Ball handling and stamina should probably be closer to 90 as well.

And I agree with whoever said he should have A+++++++ on all IQs. The guy was incredible at knowing where to be and how to play the various aspects of the game.

90 bh?  Bird was exceptional at controlling the ball, but he wasn't he certainly wasn't closing in on an elite PG level with his ball handling.

I think spd/pass/IQ need bumps, but I actually think it's relatively accurate.

Nice job. The only ratings I would change besides IQ are FT (should be an A+, since Bird's 10th all-time in NBA ft%) and REB (should be higher - averaged just over 10 rpg for his entire career as a 6'9" forward).

Are we talking college ratings or pro for Bird?  It is a college basketball game after all, so how about some recent college greats (college ratings):

Anthony Davis:
Athleticism 97
Speed 70
Rebounding 99
Defense 95
Shot Blocking 100
Low-Post 70
Perimeter 55
Ball-Handling 60
Passing 65

Jared Sullinger:
Athleticism 80
Speed 50
Rebounding 95
Defense 80
Shot Blocking 65
Low-Post 95
Perimeter 60
Ball-Handling 55
Passing 30

Jimmer:
Athleticism 75
Speed 75
Rebounding 30
Defense 70
Shot Blocking 1
Low-Post 65
Perimeter 100
Ball-Handling 95
Passing 75

Jimmer?

John Wall:
Athleticism 100
Speed 100
Rebounding 45
Defense 95
Shot Blocking 45
Low-Post 80
Perimeter 55
Ball-Handling 75
Passing 75

John Wall?

If Jimmer is at 100 per, my boy Andrew Goudelock must be at 101 :)

I'll add one. Steve Nash: Would you recruit him at D1 (I don't want to hear "he isn't that bad defensively" because he is an atrocious defender)? Haha I probably wouldn't (in this game).

Athleticism 50
Speed 80
Rebounding 10
Defense 30
Shot Blocking 1
Low-Post 20
Perimeter 90
Ball-Handling 100
Passing 100
WE: 110

This is just about exactly right.

I'm not sure any ratings in HD would allow an elite player to put up HD numbers close to those in real life.
Unless these ratings are playing against players with D3 ratings.

Remember Bird averaged 37 minutes a game, 32.8 pts, 13.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 54.4 fg%, 84 ft%.  (as a sophomore)

TK Wall needs to be a better ball handler and passer than 75s

He also averaged 6.5 assists a game as a freshman. To me that would indicate high core values and low IQ combined with a high usage.
