Determining Early Entries Topic

I am turning around the Penn State program in Smith, and currently am not in the hunt to make the NT this year, unless I can win the CT, which is really doubtful. I have a very good sophomore Wade Suzuki who is at 890 overall. I have no seniors on the team, so I am especially hoping he does not go into the EE. Does anyone know what are the qualifications that typically indicate that a player will go pro. Does it need to be a top program? We made the NT two years in a row, but just made the PI last year and will probably do the same this year.

I don't pretend to know the answers to how it all works, but based on his core ratings, class and your projected postseason and prestige I would be astonished if he went pro...

I hope you are right. If he stays, I have a real chance to have a very strong team in two years. I have picked up some very good recruits the last couple of years, and we are finally becoming very competitive.

you should be good, but i dont think him going early is totally out of the question...

So, what are the main determining factors in a player going early? I could not seem to find a list that indicated what causes an EE.

In one of his last updates before he went MIA, Seble supposedly adjusted the logic of how EE's were selected.  Not sure if anyone has figured it out yet.

Agreed.  There is a slight possibility and while I would be kind of surprised, we've had many examples of players far worse than him leaving early.  Of course, we've also had many examples of players who were much better staying for three and four seasons too.  Hope you catch a break and he stays for you.

I'm basing my guess mostly on prestige and projected postseason performance. If the team makes some magically deep run, I'd be much less surprised to see him go.

If you were an A or A+ team, he'd certainly be a candidate. Considering you're currently at a B, he's quite unlikely to go (and that's largely a result of the aforementioned change from seble, the other main part or which was to remove much of the randomness in who left). Ratings are the biggest factor, and team success also has a clear impact.

i think there are  five factors: ratings (the primary factor, as mentioned), team success that season, team prestige, the quality of other players entering the draft, and a randomness factor (which seble greatly reduced, it seems). of course, there is the hard limit too - if you have 6 graduating seniors (not counting guys who transferred with 1 yr of eligibility) OR a combination of graduating seniors (not counting senior transfers) and players who are leaving early, the rest of the team will stay.

Is that true, that senior transfers don't count toward the 6?  I'm starting to lose track of all these rules in my old age...

  • Changed the rule that limits early entries once a team has lost 5 players. The rule will now only kick in if 6 players are lost. Also, transfers who only played one season for the team will not count in that 6.
Note: This won't take effect until the next season that your world rolls over. For example, if you're in the middle of season 45, it won't take effect until the time of the draft at the end of season 46.

I lost SOPHs like crazy in this new EE update

I didn't make any postseason (no PI or NT) three seasons ago and had a 850ish center go EE as a B prestige program... so expect the unexpected.

I have the Player of the Year in Allen - www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx

His overall is only 751, and my team prestige is only C+.  I won the CT and lost in the 1st round of the NT as a #15 seed.

Do you think he'll leave after this season for the NBA?
