Recruiting Coaches Topic

Random question for all, but especially targetted towards the more experienced players who have probably dealt with this before....

What do you deem appropriate tactics in recruiting coaches and trying to expand the humans in a conference? Do you leave it to the forums? Friends? PM's? Is it ok to post a general message on other conferences message boards?

A situation has arisen in D3 Knight which has taken me completely by surprise. I am part of a very active, fun, and competitive conference. 6 coaches, 4 of which are long-term, the other two plan on being around a while, and have an annual challenge with one of the other top conferences in the world. One of the other coaches took it upon himself to post a general message to a handful of conferences that were either less competitive and/or had few humans. Just a "Hello, we'd love to have you over here if you're looking for a change" kind of deal, trying to get another coach or two in on the fun. He avoided the forum because very few read it, especially the world version.

Just about everyone had no issue, but one coach in particular has taken great offense and took it upon himself to throw quite a fit.

My question to you all is: Is this inappropriate? Should this be avoided in the future? Or is this an acceptable method to try and gain coaches into a conference?

I have no problem with it. I did it while at Texas Southern when a good opening would come available.

That's been my experience. In 22 seasons at my team in that conference I have been approached at least twice publically to switch. I just said no thanks and moved on. 1) I think its more ethical than trying to PM and sneak it behind people and 2) How big of a deal is it really?

There's nothing wrong with it.  That guy is just being a tuatte.  Har har.

No big deal. I've been approached in the coach's forum.  I've also been the perpetrator

I don't have a problem with it.

Getting upset about that is like a Pepsi drinker being offended by Coke ads.

Worst I'd have to say is 'thanks, but I'm happy where I am.'

I've advertised this way quite a few times, and I remember one guy flipping out about it and bashing my on my conference corner and the forums. Can't remember the player's name, but I'm curious if it's the same guy. Everyone else who didn't want to join either ignored the post or politely declined, both of which is fine .

It was not. Wouldn't ever want him in my conference

I have seem people post in the coaches corner recruiting coaches and I have received sitemail about joining a conference. I think both are fair game, I mean if a coach wants to go he can go... for that person to get upset is ridiculous.
