Thank goodness it is that way.  If I, as commissioner of a progressive, didn't have that ability, there is no way I would give my time to run a league.  Running a prog is a lot of work.  It takes a lot of time and effort.  You have to make decisions that balance the interests of 24 owners.  You have to be the head salesman for the league, as well as the accountant, and the CEO.  Most of us who do it, do so because we genuinely value the privilege of creating something that 24 of our fellow baseball junkies can enjoy together.  When you create a league that has legs, that survives the test of time, and owner turnover, and inevitable rules disputes and comes to develop a character and a history and becomes part of the living history of WIS, that is a real joy.

What is not a joy, at all, is dealing with egos and personalities and resolving arguments.  Most of the time, most commissioners have the leadership skills, and communication skills, and political skills to manage these disputes.  But sometimes it doesn't work out.  And when that happens, the commissioner is ultimately responsible for the league, and if he determines that someone is no longer a net contributor, he absolutely should have the right to do something about it.  No one does that lightly; any commish who became known for booting people for capricious reasons wouldn't find a lot of takes for his next vacancy.  So when it gets to that point, it's because you no longer think the alternatives are viable.  I've only kicked 1 owner out of a progressive, and if WIS had told me that I could not do that and had no choice but to allow him to continue to play, I would have said sayonara on the spot.

WIS is absolutely correct in how they handle this.

I can't even begin to imagine how forcing a commish to keep an owner against his will would even work.  It's almost like a marriage -- if one of the parties (commish or owner) doesn't want the partnership to continue, then it's over.

Let's say WIS read dino's tickets and agreed with his complaints.  Agreed that rooskie has no right to boot him from the league.  Okay, now what?  Seriously.  What's the next step?

I've heard enough about this spat. You've gone way beyond now, into whining territory really.

As far as leagues not filling. That's happening in all categories. Theme leagues are slow filling anymore, too.

And, speaking just for me, In Progressive leagues (I'm in two) those deadlines are necessary in my opinion. The BIGGEST problem with progressives, for me, is the time delays................ caused by other owners NOT meeting the KNOWN deadline for "keeper" lists, or NOT entering their team promptly after the seasons.

The delays cause many to drop out of progressives. For me, it is the biggest irritant within a progressive league.

Illness is an excuse, but we've had guys battling a lot worse than diabetes and manage to keep their simple owner obligations up and compete--without annoying others............. right up until they passed.

You and Rooskie have an issue???   Take it elsewhere.  I note the three of us are in another progressive league together!!   And there have been no problems with either Rooskie or Dino.  THAT league is run VERY strictly as to timelines, and it works swell!!!!   We have a timed draft, you miss a pick, the draft moves on!!!

IMO, it's thew best way to go!

I respect the author, but I believe that is bit presumptuous -- and capricousness alone doesn't describe the range of the kinds of unfortunate motives available for a commish whose effects are not altogether just, kind, sensible, and/nor sportsmanlike.

This isn't the gov't. This is a made up fairy tale sports site that is for sh*ts and giggles.

Your'e showing your immaturity. You were the bigger person, until you exploded the forums with your garbage and bickering. I can honestly say after reading your few topics, that I would never EVER want to be in a league with you. Your childish attitude is cause for concern. If I was WiS, I would ban your IP from ever making another account and stop the madness.
