ATLANTIC DIVISION
jt7king "Its always sunny in Philadelphia" Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Lowry, Kris Humphries
KD is awesome. Leonard is solid, but I would have looked to two other needs. Leonard does great things but I do not think that he was exactly what you needed. You have three glaring things missing but they are a little different than the rest of the league. Your followup picks look good. I would have rather seen you go with either Draymond Green or even Troy Murphy because I think you may have gotten Lowry on the back end. Humphries is very one dimensional and Green and Murphy give so much more (especially Green). I know how I am going to play you right now, and that's not a good thing. You cleared two of the three needs, but that third need is going to be hard to find.
superrobb420: James Harden, Pau Gasol, Paul George, Jermaine O'Neal
This team fill multiple needs right off the bat. I like to draft to take care of most of my needs in the first two picks. Rebounds, blocks, steals, scoring, assists, usage, threes, usage distribution, and efficiency are all covered here. I like this combo a lot. Gasol is a steal. Harden was nice too. I think this will be a certain playoff contender so long as you don't blow this up with something insane. With the next two picks you blew it up with something insane. You took two high usage sub 50% efg guys that are going to steal possessions from Harden. You have over 20 usage points in your starting lineup and neither player brings and elite skill. You needed one more assist guy, one more pure rebounder, and one more three point specialist. This would have given you a free pass to round 2 of the playoffs. Monkee would always say no one wins leagues in the first two rounds, you win in round three and four. Unfortunately I feel this is where you lost.
jpeterso "Dark Angel": Dwyane Wade, Kevin Love, Terrell Brandon, Andrew Bogut
I felt I this was a bit early for Wade. Given the option of Big Money Wade or Big Money Harden I would go with Harden. I don't think it is egregious, but just a preference thing (maybe it's my Rockets bias?). I would trade the additional threes and better free throw performance for the defense since it has always seemed that defense is a fickle thing in the sim. Kevin Love was a player I almost took before you, but I opted for Bynum. Love gives threes and rebounding with good usage. I am assuming 99-00 Brandon with the 09-10 Bogut here. If that is the way you are going I like it. Usage is high, but Brandon gives the assists you were missing to help support Wade, Love, and himself. Bogut will help with defense and usage distribution in the paint as well as defense. Brandon isn't my favorite once you get out of the 90's but if you need defense and assists he isn't a bad pick up at this point in the draft.
gerryred: Dwight Howard, Gerald Wallace, Andre Miller, John Wall
Gerry went with a best player available strategy, and it looks good. Rebounds, defense, and scoring are in pretty good shape so far. Usage is also decent, but I feel this team has two needs, and one of them is going to be real tough to fill as I see several teams with the same need...and not a lot of available options that are acceptable. Miller and Wall just turned you into the league's assist master, but at the cost of efficiency which sounds counter productive. Wall is going to fight Howard for possessions now, and their is no real three point threat on this team. Defense is still elite, but I don't know if it will be enough to support what may be a lackluster offense.
roadhouse19: Gary Payton, Manu Ginobili, Emeka Okafor, Chris Bosh
While everyone looks for assists, Roadhouse laughs. Sitting on around 55-60% assists doesn't suck. Especially with defense and usage covered well. The missing items are obvious and can be rectified with one pick, but the point guard position is already set for this team moving forward. Okafor will help with efficient offense and boards and Bosh will give good paint usage distribution. Bosh was a perfect pick for this team. I like the progression.
amerk1180 "Survivor": Steph Curry, Serge Ibaka, Yao Ming, Kirk Hinrich
Scoring, rebounding, efficiency, defense, assists, and usage. All set. This is a great start. I do see a minor issue, but it is so early that it will be fixed, but this is a smart place to start from and is almost a sure playoff team as long as you don't screw yourself. Don't get too cute and you should be fine. Yao was a great pick here as wall Hinrich. Yao give usage distribution with efficient scoring and Hinrich brings defense, threes, and assists. This team looks very difficult to score on while being able to deliver a few punches of your own.
CENTRAL DIVISION:
carbonjones: DeAndre Jordan, Rajon Rondo, Vince Carter, Al Horford
Dear God just foul the crap out of them and then try to win the rebounding contest (oh and then DeAndre Jordan will get the rebound..lol nevermind). Usage is non-existent here. I know the perfect player for this team, but I must keep my mouth shut (since I am thinking of the same guy). Defense is solid and fouls may be plentiful. No threes and no usage here give me some pause. Vinsanity clears that usage issue. He is a little light on threes, but he is a poor mans TMac and a good pick with what all he brings. Horford brings a lot of good things. He doesn't have to worry about being elite in rebounding since he plays with Jordan and since I assume you are going with the 12-13 version you will see a few more assists and more usage to help with distribution. I feel good about this.
uptowngbv "Game of thrones": Lebron James, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, LARRY SANDERS!
I'm not sure what you were looking for here. Don't get me wrong I like it, but it is strange. I'm not sure that I would have paired LBJ with Klay when Gobert was on the board, but I get the entire hyper offensive attack and lets see if we can put 150 up on someone. Klay brings solid D as does King, but outside of the D Klay only gives scoring super efficiently. Is it an elite level skill for this league, I think so, but I would have gone for something else...that said LBJ plus four lumps will likely get you into the playoffs or at least close, and Klay is far from being a lump. Draymond Green is an inspired pick for this team. Defense, rebounding, assists, and some scoring and then add in LARRY SANDERS! SANDERS brings, in short minutes, rebounds and a Shaq buffet platter full of blocks. This is an elite defensive squad. I know who I like for this team next.
smokey57 "Sons of Anarchy": Kevin Garnett, Josh Smith, Jason Terry, Troy Murphy
I defended the KG pick, but in the light of picking Josh Smith it gives me questions. If one plays SG and the other plays SF I get it, I do not agree with it, but I do get it. If one plays SF and the other plays PF I hate it. I hate it more than I hated watching Josh Smith shoot threes and midrange jumpers for the Rockets. Defensively it is a sick squad. Offensively I'm not a fan. I have not idea what you are going to do next with this. I have a good idea of what I would do, but hey what do I know...I'm just a newbie ;) Terry is a tad light on assists, but is solid for shooting as is Murphy. Murphy of course rebounds like Jax shoots people so this will be good. I now see what you are doing and I am starting to like it a lot more. The next pick will tell the tale of course.
skypilot (2) "Battlestar Gallactica": Paul Pierce, Steve Nash, Rudy Gobert, LaMarcus Aldridge, Ryan Anderson
This is a solid trio. Not in defensively in the backcourt, but offensively it is nice. Gobert can put back Nash and Pierce's misses and we can try to keep count with all of the threes being jacked up. LMA is going to help bring offensive balance even though he isn't very efficient, and Ryan Anderson is a very nice selection since he will be very useful on the offensive glass and with three point shooting. I do think that this will be an anemic defensive team. You may lose a game 150-148 this season.
98average: Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, DeMarcus Cousins, Hassan Whiteside
I like Davis, but I just think he was too early. He is a defensive monster that doesn't foul much, but I can't fault you seeing that you likely were targeting Westbrook on the back end. Westbrook does so much, but efficiency is the problem with Westbrook. I don't see a terrible issue with it considering how early TMac and Kobe went it is almost strange that Westbrook lasted so long. Nice start so far....of course you know what you are missing so far, I don't have to tell you that, but I would really load up on assists to try to help out Russ. So I guess we are looking for a shooting guard then. Your two leading players both have an efg under 50%. Cousins is a fouling and turnover machine and Whiteside does a ton of good things, but unfortunately he will only play for about a quarter of the game. I think this team is starting to see trouble
cmcafeeky: Dirk Nowitzki, Tracy McGrady, Jose Calderon, Erick Dampier
How could you get better talent with less rebounds? You couldn't..lol. TMac does a lot well, and for sim purposes he is virtually the same as Kobe (Kobe does get the slight nod due to defense and his ability to take charge in Eagle County, Colorado...or is that not in the sim). Dirk can't guard his shadow. He isn't Kiki Vandeweghe on defense, but he is still solid. This is another team that looks like it's going to take a run at 150 point games. This team has three huge need, and it needs to get those cover in like two picks. Calderon has an amazing assist to turnover ratio, and he will not kill you (except with his lack of D). He shoots well and can help hit a few shots per game. He really helped your assist issue. Dampier is an awesome rebounder and he brings the help you are sorely needing there. To be honest this is another team who is still a defensive sieve.
MIDWEST DIVISION
hardened "Breaking Bad": Chris Paul, Andrew Bynum, Ray Allen, Peja Stojakovic
Someone needs to critique my team. I may lack the objectivity to do so properly.
I will explain my thoughts. I picked CP3 because DUH. Bynum gives me everything Paul doesn't give me. Allen gives threes and assists. Peja gives threes. I figure I can keep myself in games with the three point shooting.
dh555: Kobe Bryant, David Robinson, Clarence Weatherspoon, Kenneth Faried
I wouldn't have picked Kobe, but I'm not the Laker fan I think I remember that you are. Since you went that direction I feel you certainly made a smart follow up pick. I do like the defense that this team has and the usage being spread out between a post player and a perimeter player. One small thing missing I see, but I feel you will cover that with your next pick. So far I really like this team. Playoff deep run is written all over this. Weatherspoon is a nice pick as is Faried, but I like them both as a 3...unless you are playing Spoon at the 2 and Kobe at point...which brings a ton of new questions that I am not sure I can answer, or would want to try. If Spoon is SF and Faried is PF I think it ruins some of the advantages you could have had.
grayfoxx: Amare Stoudamire, Carmelo Anthony, Jason Richardson, Nerlens Noel
Dear God how much usage did you get saddled with? Plus assists aren't your friend it appears. Noel was a smart pick to get some rebounds and defense. I will not be too harsh here.
jt7king (2) "Archer": Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups, Blake Griffin, Nicolas Batum
Let's play defense. Mr. Big Shot with Big Ben. You may be a little light on usage so far, but we aren't deep in the draft yet. I really like this start. Assist-to-turnover ratio is great with Billups and you have a ton of directions you can go with this team. I don't feel as though anyone can get picked in front of you that you can't switch strategy and still pull off 50 wins outside of putting Bob Cousy on your team (I can say this since he isn't available in this draft). See when you couldn't get Lee, you switched to Blake. Another smart pick at this point in the draft. He does a little of everything and gives you some paint usage that will complement Billups nicely. Batum will bring a lot to this team and is a solid pick. He shoots well and gives you more assists and ok SG rebounds. His usage isn't so high that it takes away from Blake and Billups.
sionnach99: Karl Malone, Marcus Camby, Mark Jackson, Danny Granger
I wanted Camby. Badly. For this I hate you. This is a nice combo down low. I really like what you are doing here. You have three glaring things missing, but you know that already since you decided to shore up your rebounding and big man game. I am really interested to see where you go from here. It is a good start, but I don't know how well you will be able to cover the missing pieces that you need. Jackson covers the assists you were needing and Granger covers the usage distribution and threes. You certainly have covered several needs that you had with those two picks.
tanguma44: Tim Duncan, Donyell Marshall, Al Jefferson, Chris Webber
Timmy and Marshall. I love Timmy in the sim. He gives so many good things and doesn't kill you. Marshall gives three and rebounding from his position. Another one that has the same glaring problem that half of these teams have, but I think this one is a little better setup to mitigate those problems than some of the others. Big Al is solid here as he gives rebounder and more post scoring, but I am afraid that he may take away from Duncan. Webber brings assists, but his usage and low efficiency will play against Jefferson and Duncan. I don't care for this team as the usage isn't evenly distributed and every team is going to play you the same way.
PACIFIC DIVISION
rubnsly "True Detective": Deron Williams, Joaquim Noah, David Lee, Andre Igoudala, Matt Harpring
So in three picks rubnsly has built a very interesting team. Assists and Rebounds are well covered. Defense is good and usage is well distributed. Adding a couple of specialists will make this team very difficult to stop. I think this is a well built team from a draft position that made it a tough spot. I would have probably taken Nash and sacrificed the defense for the crazy efficiency, but this is a solid start. Andre Igoudala helps cover the need for a few extra assists, defense, and good scoring. Harpring covers threes with good usage and a few extra boards. This is a solid team for sure.
smokey57 (2) "Californication": Shawn Marion, Carlos Boozer, Lamar Odom, Sam Cassell
Smokey just wants to corner the market on SF/PF guys. Marion I love. He does so much well and doesn't hurt you. Boozer in the sim is great (a bum in real life, but whatever..lol) I can't believe that you didn't look to a guard here. With Westbrook, Stockton, and even Klay still on the board I was surprised that you didn't take one of them. So far I 'm not a fan, but I may like it better than KG/JSmoove. Odom and Cassell are nice additions to this team. Assists and usage distribution are helped by them both. This was a good rebound from some earlier miscues, but I think you have a way to go to take out the stronger teams in this division.
samuelyork93 "Dexter": Shaquille O'Neal, John Stockton, Scottie Pippen, Brent Barry
Hey remember when Shaq wore Stockton's shorts..that was funny. This team is not funny. This team is a pain in the a$$. Just what we needed was to have Stockton giving the ball to Super Shaq. This is going to suck. This is my favorite team so far. The inside out game is going to be tough to beat. I know this isn't Stockton at the top of his game, but drafting him at the end of the second round was plain thievery. Very, very well done sir. Pip is a good pick here as is Barry. Everyone plays D and gets assists. Threes should be good here and the smart drafting has left you an a great position to draft a specialist to cover a single need. Very good
smoke117: Jason Kidd, Dikembe Mutombo, Rasheed Wallace, Gilbert Arenas, Zach Randolph
Usage be darned we are going to fill everything but scoring. This is the idea here, and it works for me. Kidd and Mutombo can control things defensively and and will do all of the other things needed except scoring. This is a team that is poised for a nice playoff run. I absolutely love the start here. Sheed is going to bring solid shooting plus needed usage and D. Arenas is my question mark. I think he will be alright, but there will be games that he will kill you in between his tendency to shoot everything (no pun intended), not get a lot of assists, turnover the ball, and commit fouls. I love Zach for rebounding, I hate his poor shooting when compared to his usage and his defense. Fortunately you have a good amount of D, but I think poor shooting is going to hurt you.
robusk "The Wire": Alonzo Mourning, Tyson Chandler, Andrei Kirilenko, Kyrie Irving
The Game is The Game...Zo and Chandler are the Bunk and McNulty (to the rest of us they will feel like Stringer Bell and Avon) of the league. The inside is going to be a bad place to be. I assume they will lead the league in blocked shots. Rebound and inside scoring will be solid as well. Obviously we see what is missing, but this is a great place to start. Many other teams are missing key items to get started, but this is a team has one of the better starts of those teams. AK-47 is a great defender and he will bring rebounds and assists I love this pick. Kyrie brings some great scoring and hits threes well, but doesn't get to the line as much as someone with his usage should. He also is thin on assists. This is still a solid team, but the assist thing needs some work.
skypilot "Lost": Elton Brand, Andre Drummond, Brandon Roy, Marc Gasol
Starting with 500 fouls wasn't what you were aiming for I'm sure. Defensively this is awesome. Offensively there are good things here too. Rebounding is great too...considering that Brand will be a SF. The three glaring problems are hear too, and while the start is good, I wonder if you can get all three of those things...especially as one of them isn't as plentiful and the best of those are all gone now. Roy was an ideal pick here, and Gasol gives you rebounds and assists. His lack of efficiency shooting won't be an issue as his usage isn't a problem. Frontcourt defense is for real here. Fouls could be a problem here though.
