Another year, Another tournament ruined by RPI Topic

Now that we've seen another tournament marred by the NCAA's overreliance on the demonstrably flawed RPI, is there any hope for WIS to move to a 21st century system for rating teams?

The RPI does not determine the seeds in the tournament. The projection report is what is used and it works very well in determining a team's seed.

What does that mean that the tournament was ruined by RPI?
3/20/2016 4:31 PM
Actually, they changed how they seeded irl recently, didn't they?

We actually saw a tournament marred by the committees wish to determine seeds by viewership.

MSU drops to a 2 to conveniently be in the same bracket as UVA for what was thought to be a guaranteed Elite 8 game.

Wichita gets an 11 seed for upset ability and possible Kansas Elite 8 game

Tamu jumps to a 3 seed to set up a potential Texas 2nd round game

Syracuse gets an unbelievable 10 seed for what could've been a MSU-Syracuse game

Zags get an 11 seed a bit underseeded but gives us upset ability

WVU/SFA matchup was on purpose to give us press-press game

Notre Dame Michigan matchup because they didn't play in football.

Indiana drops to a 5 seed after winning the Big 10 to set up a 2nd round game against Kentucky who probably could've gotten a 3 seed as well after winning the SEC, as well as giving us most likely UNC verse Indy/Kentucky winner either being a huge game.

College basketball needs a BCS system to eliminate the manipulation of seedings for viewership which it's clearly doing. They underseed teams that have talent in hopes of giving us upsets and then matchup top programs early for viewships.

Whether it's a combination of rpi/bpi/kenpom or and average of the 3 and rank the schools 1-64

I hate the play in games as well they should be eliminated but won't because $$$

I think that's a pretty good analysis

and it's not just this year either, however this year was by far the most obvious

Kansas Wichita seeded next to each other

Wisconsin and Arizona seeded in the same bracket

Ohio State-Arizona matchup

Duke with the easiest bracket in the world

2014

OSU Dayton and what was expected to be OSU-Syracuse in the next round both teams were #1/2 for a long period that season

Kentucky getting an 8 seed in Wichita's bracket

2013

UNC being an 8 seed in Kansas bracket

ridiculous 12 seeding

If you look for conspiracies, you will find them.

Yeah, I think theOnly is right about that. I mean, they need to stop thinking television and feel good movies, and just be fair.

Except most of that **** is real weak. Who cares about Syracuse, Michigan St? Is that some sort of rivalry in the booming metropoli of East Lansing and Syracuse? Are you waiting for a Sherman Douglass/Mateen Cleaves video montage? ND/Mich because they didn't play in football? Seriously? ND could play Our Lady of the Worthless Miracle and their lunatic fans would watch. It's the NCAA tournament, other than the Super Bowl it's the one sporting event that who plays doesn't matter....they don't need to rig ****, we'll buy what they're selling regardless.

There's a simple solution to the tourney just add more teams

I wasn't too thrilled with Providence basically having to play road games the last two years.
