Knocking off a sim quickly in div III Topic

If you were a new coach and REALLY wanted to knock off a sim. What would be the most effective effort to totally get a div 3 sim off my guy? Don't give me the BS story about how I'm better off going after undecideds. That's not what I'm asking here. That's a different conversation. Thanks.

HV or CV depending on the distance. Under 360 send a bunch of HV and over 360 utilize CV

if the D3 sim is very tight its going to be very costly.

"A bunch" is kind of vague. If you don't mind me saying.

well it's going to be a few thousand depending on how close he is with the sim and how far away he is from you.

hard to estimate without knowing how far and how tight the sim is

Within 360 for me and also for the sim. How many Campus visits do you suppose it would take? I remember a few real years back in div 1aa Gridiron Dynasty that if I sent 5 campus visits on the first cycle, it ALWAYS knocked off the sim the first cycle. Am I looking at the same kind of numbers?

sim distance doesn't matter 250 regardless for them.

can you see the word on the street for the sim thats the most important part. if he is tight I don't know I don't bother with that, if it's something like hes considering sim but is open to other offers maybe ~3Kish

what works in GD will not work the same in HD, they look similar but recruiting is very different.

IDK....not to seem unappreciative, but you only played GD for 3 full seasons. I'm not really sure how you can grasp recruiting in that short amount of time.

this was more knowing HD very well and then going to GD where sure I had an advantage knowing a bit about how WIS works and scouting and everything but then actual recruiting was different enough that strategy and HV/CV tactics were different that it wasn't really possible to compare

Sure 5 CV might knock a sim off but its never going to be a guarentee, you don't have WOTS in GD you have AC/HV actions and ST are different than ours all with different weights than what HD uses.

That was based on knowing HD very well and going into GD not saying I know GD well and comparing it

I mean would you rather ask a GD coach for help on this or someone who knows HD? playing even just 1-2 seasons is enough to know that GD/HD while look similar recruit differently, even though they do have some things similar like having HV/CV (technically I got 9 seasons experience on GD too ;P )

Fair enough. Thanks for the reply Viva. I HAD to ask.

So that conversation happened and you still never revealed what Word On The Street says which is the way you know how much you need to spend. Do you know what Word On The Street says?

I won't give you a story. Knocking off sims is often an excellent strategy, but you have to know when it's worth it and when it's a bad move.

Also, I have always believed that if a recruit is over 200 miles, then CVs are the best method of recruiting. I have also heard that SIMs recruit as if they are 200 miles away.. Not saying this is correct, but this is my understanding.

Usually, it is not that hard to knock D3 sims off.

But, at D3, I almost always went after D2 guys anyway. That, to me, would be a better strategy. I would say that when I was at D3, 75% of my players were D2 pull downs or drop downs.

If you have not read the thread that aejones wrote about how to win at D2 and D3, that would be very good to read. It discusses drop downs and pull downs. It is tacked to the top of the forums.

It's also not necessary to knock the sim completely of the player. There have been a few reports of randomness but as long as you're getting one of the "you're ahead" messages from the scholarship email or your school is listed first in the player is struggling between school a and school b WOTS you will be fine and not need to spend more of your budget. Budgets are relatively small at DIII not much room for waste.

scholarship email reply messages seem to have a small failure rate. WOTS is 100%

wow i would have said scholarship message is 100% and WOTS is sometimes inaccurate

WOTS is 100% accurate at 2am and 2pm otherwise in between those times it can be inaccurate because it only changes at those 2 times and doesn't account for any action in between.
