Off-season development/decline Topic

Did a search but all threads were 3-4 years old. Is there no rhyme nor reason to development/decline? Some guys declined in Green or improved in Red or did nothing in either. I just don't see a pattern.

Correct-there's no rhyme or reason. The only consistent is stamina will generally drop in the off-season. And of course, improvements/declines are based on WE.

It almost has to be the product of a series of random number generations. I tried charting it early on and found no other rhyme or reason to answer why in some cases the 35 WE guy has more growth in the offseason than the 70+ WE guy while at other times the latter gains 20+ points in the offseason while the former basically comes back the same player with 4 fewer stamina points. The higher the WE, the more likely it seems that players will gain points in attribute categories in the off-season and the less likely they are to lose points, but it certainly isn't an assurance. Where those gains and losses occur also doesn't seem tied to potential level, so I'm pretty sure it's just a proverbial "roll of the dice" and stamina just has its own unique chart when it comes to that roll.

the only assurance is very low WE guys lose all if not more than they gained in the offseason. All else it's a complete crap shoot.

I don't know that that's true unless 23 isn't considered low.

As I said, it made no sense but I figured I was missing something.

There probably is some sort of "rhyme or reason." We just don't know what it is, and a lot of guys around here believe if they can't see something then that's proof it doesn't exist.

Would you do the research and educate the rest of us? I've looked at my team, and several others, and can't find a pattern.

I'm not actually that concerned with off-season development, except after the fact as part of overall increase.

I'll take my 150+ seasons of 'evidence' over your made up 'theory'.

Is that a "No, I'm not going to do any research but I'll happily spout BS theories about it"?

if there is any rhyme or reason, it is for sure not in any obvious pattern

I cant say that I have recorded data systematically and searched for any correlations between changes and the variables that one could imagine matter - but nothing has ever jumped out

I dont check carefully for correlations having found none for many seasons
2/5/2017 6:09 PM
There's a correlation, it just isn't linear. The higher the WE the more likely there will be an offseason gain. Don't think so hard about. The dude with a 78 WE is probably going to go up 5-20 points; the guy with a 16 is going to lose 5 or so.

+1. Mike don't worry about it too much.

Its just a very loose correlation with WE.

agree for sure correlation with WE

I meant no other pattern that I know of what improves
