Second username etiquette Topic

I'd like to create a second username. I've got the HD bug bad. What are the rules for what you can and cannot do, in general, and in recruiting, more specifically? The teams need to be st different levels, right? Do they need to be in different sections if the country? I just want to make sure there is no potential for accusation of impropriety

I always hit "send" before I proofread.

Your teams need to be in different divisions and more than 1000 miles apart. And don't cheat.

I don't think different divisions is necessary. As an example jdno and jdno2 were at high D1 in Rupp for years and admin was ok with it.

It's a different game now. And ADMIN is likely to be OK with anything until someone complains.

yeah, i think the rule is simply 1000+ miles and don't cheat, on your honor.

Well, they have public said they weren't actively enforcing this and relied on users turning in offenders.

Good for you. As long as your second user name doesn't have a team in any of the worlds your first user name is in, no prob, no accusation. One team per world leave no room for valid accusation. More than one team per world is shady.

I think the best thing you can do is make it obvious what your alt ID is (ab90 2 or something). I think having IDs that are intentionally secret is ridiculous. If we're being relied upon to police the game (as TJ says) then they should at least help enable us to do so by linking the profiles so we know.

That's what I was going to say. Announce to the world what your alt ID is. Don't be secretive.

How do you feel about multiple teams in the same World, under one user name?

The game was never designed to allow one user to have multiple teams in the same world. However, it's not feasible for us to completely remove that from the game. It's not always possible for us to link multiple accounts to the same person definitively. We also don't have the resources to monitor for that.

For that reason, we decided to allow multiple teams as long as they are geographically located at least 1000 miles apart. That minimizes the potential for sharing FSS scouting information.

We're still discussing further measures to minimize and hopefully eliminate this issue.

With that said, we do take cheating very seriously. We mostly rely on our users to report cheating or suspicious behavior, but we investigate all of those reports and take any appropriate action.

I totally made up the one team per division rule....

Created the poll because benis is correct...self policing would occur if we all knew that one user is the same as another. Really hard to hide when you are out in the open. Take the survey if you will just so I can see if anybody feels the same.

I don't think the different division really helps. In fact, I think it makes it worse. If I have a D1 team and a D3 team in one world, my D1 team COULD help out my D3 team quite a bit. My D3 team would have level 4 scouting info on half the country now.

However, if I have two D1 teams in one world, your scouting budget is already so big that it's not like you're gaining a huge advantage. It will help a little but not as much.

Same thing with two D3 teams. D3 budgets are pretty small so you'd gain a little by sharing info but your 2nd team but it can't supply a ridiculous amount of information. Yes, it would help some, but not as much if it were a D1 team.

I see no valid reason why a user (any user) should need to have two teams in the same world.

There are 10 worlds out there. If you want to run 2 to 10 separate teams, you have the opportunity to do so across different worlds. If you feel that you want/need an 11th team, them you probably need to get outside more.
