Trivia Question Topic

Who's the all time career leader in strikeouts per 9 IP (minimum 1,000 IP)?

No cheating!

I'll guess Randy Johnson or Max Scherzer
8/31/2021 12:10 PM
Billy Wagner
8/31/2021 12:11 PM
Nope. Johnson is #6, Scherzer #5, Wagner doesn't have enough innings.

I'll give you a hint, this pitcher just reached the 1,000 IP minimum to be considered for this category.

**** I just saw this the other day, I gotta remember what game it was shown.

Chris Sale?
8/31/2021 12:39 PM
Good guess. Sale's #2 on the list.
8/31/2021 12:55 PM
Yeah Sale was the guy passed.

It was Detroit Tigers legend, Robbie Ray!
8/31/2021 1:35 PM
Yes, Robbie Ray. I heard it myself during a Blue Jays broadcast here in Toronto. Amazing how many guys on the list are active right now.

Tim Lincecum #20? Get his plaque ready!

Chris Archer is #11, ahead of Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax.

Do you suppose it's easier to strike guys out now than in the past?
8/31/2021 2:32 PM
Scott Kazmir better than Roger Clemens confirmed
8/31/2021 3:05 PM
If Victor Zambrano makes the list I'm jumping off the garage roof

I still have a Carlos Zambrano mows my yard T-shirt. I got it from a vendor inside Busch about 15 years ago. They'd never get away with that in today's PC world...

I would have guessed Kluber was higher on the list.

My friend bought that shirt at Busch Stadium, then bought a Cardinals fans take it in the Pujols shirt when he visited Wrigley!
