78-08 Worst to First Live League (8 in) Topic

Select a team from the past 30 years that finished DEAD LAST in its League (AL or NL) and with $100 million to spend, twist them into a winner. This is not the team that finished last in a division, but last in the American League or last in the National League. This means there are 60 teams to choose from. Limit one entry per season (so only one owner can have the 2008 Washington Nationals.) But an owner can have two teams.

You can twist to any year of a player's career. No DH, No WW, No AAA, Yes to trades. Must use home park from year selected.

You can see which team had the fewest wins in the AL by visting: http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/AL/

You can see the NL teams with fewest wins by going to: http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/NL/

Again its the team with the worst record in the AL or NL. Not the worst team in the division. So in 1984 for example, the two teams would be the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants.

I'm not going to sign up for any more LIVE leagues until I have a few get closer to finishing up. However, I will say that the '86 Pirates and '87 Indians look pretty nice.

I changed my mind. The '91 Astros are too good to pass up.

So does that stick me in the Astrodome? You use that team's park? Or any park?
9/9/2009 7:13 PM
sorry gotta use your home park.

No problem, built the pitching staff for the A-Dome (behind Mike Scott, who kicks some serious butt anywhere). Lineup reads:

1. Lofton
2. Biggio
3. Luis Gonzalez
4. Bagwell
5. Caminiti
6. Steve Finley
7. Andujar Cedeno
8. variety of catchers

I feel good about that behind a rotation the top half of which is Mike Scott and Curt Schilling... May end up slipping Lofton down into the 9-hole and moving everybody up a spot.

I will go with the 1992 Dodgers

9/10/2009 10:59 AM
I will take the 2006 Chicago Cubs
9/10/2009 1:20 PM
Now that we're rolling, ill take the 83 mets
