He'll improve at glacial speed and actually lose points during the off season.

dogget has a 7 we.

It means he's pretty lazy.

But if his stats work for you as is, then it may make sense to recruit him. I have found that redshirting these guys helps withthe IQ, and net-net, they actually don't usually lose points. I have a 4 and a 14 WE guards on my #6 ranked team in DII Crum, and they are both good contributors.

It means don't recruit him.

Don't expect the kid to improve much in season and expect him to regress in the offseason.

Basically, what you recruit is what you'll have his entire career. Try and make sure he's versed in at least 1, if not both, of your sets. Try to redshirt him. Anything you gain during the season, will be lost in the offseason.

I recruited a 4 WE player, who is currently a redshirt sophomore. His IQ's are B/B+ (came in knowing the defense). Even his high potential areas barely improved, but he did score 3.7 PPG on 41.5% shooting (44.2 from 3) in 15 minutes backing up the SF and SG spots (natural SF). Also had 2.6 REB and 1.1 AST. A very good bench player, who I won't need to start until his senior season. He's improved 19 points on the season, the only category that improved more than 2 was stamina (3 points).

They can be useful, but make sure his ratings are good enough at the time you recruit him.

Low WE is a bad idea.

I would be amused if your player with 1-10 WE would gain weight in the off season to go with his dropped ratings.

Watching your PG go from 180 to 210 in the offseason would be hilarious.

I disagree with some of the comments, although agree with the general tenor. I just graduated a 1 WE guy from a top-5 team. His IQs were in the B-range and he got better, albeit not significantly, in his four years.

In general, while I disagree that he will lose all that he gains, he will not get much better.

I think it would take too much effort to eat that much to balloon 30 pounds. He just doesn't have the work ethic in him to pull it off :)
