Public World Foxx a disaster? Topic

Some interesting facts from public world Foxx from the season that is about to wrap up...

- *8* teams won more than 100 games.

- 1 team won... ready for this?... *7* games. (The owner has not logged in since 12/10)

- Only 5 owners have re-upped for next season.

Is a world like this REALLY good for HBD? Public worlds are necessary playgrounds, especially for n00bs... but how many potential customers will get turned off by playing in a world where things are so lopsided?

Can't one just NOT play in that world?

There are a lot of private worlds looking for owners. Many are taking in n00bs.

Private Worlds are great, but there are also many far, far better public Worlds. Robinson in Season 14, for example, saw only 1 100 game winner (102 games) and 2 100 game losers (100 and 106 games) and returned 29 of 32 owners for Season 15. And we didn't need a strong Commish kicking tail and a bunch of league bylaws to do it that way. There is a huge variety in quality among Public Worlds. But I think the question is (a) how can a new player tell what quality public world he's about to join, given no WiS experience on a random click-through? The answer is he probably can't. We should probably assume it's just going to be a crapshoot among the public worlds. And (b) with the length of an HBD season being 3 real life months, is it realistic for a new owner who lands in a World like that to have any enthusiasm for the game by the time his season runs its course? Will he take the time to find the forums and look for a Private World, or will he look elsewhere to spend his entertainment dollars?

Being fairly new...I know when I started..I would have to be in a public world for a few seasons, before most private worlds would even consider you joining. I understand Worlds looking for owners with stability, so that is no biggie. I was lucky to get in New Guys, which seems pretty good. Most of all I "fell" into Ruth when it had 1 opening , and was public. Outstanding World, some of the owners even seem to work for HBD. Most of all, the one thing I did before I joined any public world, was to check out the chat and see what goes on. Do they chat daily? are they bickering? how long have owners been there? But that is just me, I also picked up a few good mentors to help me too.

A) A new player can view the world. If a n00b can't tell that a world with a 7 game winner and 8x100 game winners might have some problems, he's not very bright.

B) The game is very in-depth. I think it takes most either like the game or not within 3-4 weeks. If you like the detail, you'll take the time to find a better world. If you're just seeking a way to find entertainment, HBD probably isn't for you anyway.

I recall one of your Worlds having a set requirement Mike.....a certain number of seasons, or experience. But also beware....there are alot of veteran owners who will try to "rape" a newbie in trading!

Excellent point MikeT23. If a newbie takes the time to look, he can find a good World.

Both of my worlds have experience requirements. But there are a lot of private worlds that do not.

I respect that. It gives us "noobs" something to work toward.

Not to be flip, but so what? The world will not fill and it will disappear ... again, so what?

Yeah, I took a look at the chat - lots of guys have announced they are leaving because even they can't deny the world is a disgrace anymore.

It will wither and die, and the Santa Fe franchise will hopefully be folded, because no team should be that loaded.

Public worlds will not be subject to elimination. Admin's made that quite clear.

Speaking of loaded franchises, what happened to that world where the one owner had something like 40 guys with OVRs of 85 or higher, because he kept trading crap for other teams' Top 10 picks? Remember that thread, anyone?

That is Sante Fe of Foxx. I was in the world for 2 seasons, but it has gotten out of control. At first that owner was trying the same skrew me over deals, then after he was called out he wanted to try and make an even deal, but I wouldnt/didnt need to deal with him.

He would offer up the usually noob rape deals, high overalls but hitters with low splits or contact etc...

There is no doubt in my mind he has at least 1, and possible 3 alias in the world.
