The announcement was as follows:

Home Run Rate Update

Following the “end of the steroid era” update, the HR/G rate at the big league level continues to drop. At this point, it’s a bit below what we had projected. This update will bump the rate up a bit. Prior to the update, the HR/G for two teams was ~2.80. As of this week, it had fallen to ~2.02. We are striving for ~2.40. And, remember, the drop off is only at the top. Those power hitters that were hitting 80+ homers will come back to Earth a bit (with everyone else falling into place). This HR/G rate can be monitored on the World Snapshot page: http://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Main/WorldSnapshot.aspx

It says two contradictory things:

  • ...remember, the drop off is only at the top.
  • ...with everyone else falling into place
You can't have it both ways. Either only the top guys are affected, or everyone is. Personally, I think it makes sense that everyone is, but someone at WIS please clarify this. Thank you.

If a player hits 40 home runs and a guys hits 70, the 70 guy will hit less but the 40 guy will still hit 40. I'm sure that's what they mean.

So to speak.

I had a player with 69 PW hit his first HR of the year this season, so it is obviously an overcorrection.

69 Power hit's some home runs. Just a coincidence?

I think not.

Thanks, guys, but I'd like to hear from staff. I put it here instead of a ticket because I think it is a matter of wide interest.

I'ld like the HR's/game to get to 2 or just a bit below and stay there...pretty real life.

I wish they wouldn't do an update with some worlds during the reg. season and/or in the playoffs. It should just wait until after roll over.

I like to think this is my team's problem in Cooperstown. The other option, user error, is less flattering to me.

Yeah, mine too. In the LCS first game after change I lose 14-1 ;). Must be them, not me.

That was my thoughts when I saw the update notes. If it only effects the top hitters then only the top hitters should see a drop. If everyone else falls into place then we won't see just a drop off from the top.

Sounds right. Depends on what "falls into place" means.

every single one of my players with similar (or in some cases more) playing time that was a 30+ in Power hit less home runs the season after the update went into place - i guess i don't see why they don't acknowledge that all players took a hit not just the top power hitters

I think in a way they did. They are updating the update.

Clearly what they did went way to far in fixing any perceived HR issue, and now they are scambling to make the game playable again.
